I have a wheel to paint.

3 wheels are black, and with wheel trims look ok. 1 wheel is Silver, which you can see through the trim, and consequently looks crap.

I can't be arsed to take the wheel off or mask up, and don't care what it looks like behind the trim (because I can't see it!), unless I really need to.

Would I be mad to get a tin of paint and brush it on?

It's attached to a caravan, but I don't think that makes much difference.

Brushed paint looks fine from 5m - even better behind a trim.

Nick the wife's scouring pad and lightly key up the wheel, the paint will stay on then when you squirt a hose at wheel.

hmm. looking trickier than I thought. How can I tell if the wheel is galvanised or not?

This seems important to hammerite.

That does not look like a wheel.

It's not rusted to date. Shall I just assume that if it was not galvanised it would have done?

My first car was an Austin 1300 on which all 4 doors were different colours after raiding the scrappy. I bought a tin of Crown Plus 2 Gloss in Black and hand painted the whole car with it. Looked bloody awesome, hardly any brush marks visible and was shining brightly. Spray painted the steel wheels silver and the whole thing cost me less than a tenner. Even got compliments at petrol garages on how good it looked!

Progress

Happy with that. Would like alloys, but not paying £500 for a set for a Caravan

Yep, looks better than the other three now. And you tried the easy option.
Looks like you're gonna have to repeat the process x 3 rotate

Think I'll wait and see how it looks with a bit of dirt on the wheel!
