As per title, I could be interested in an Alfa 156 JTD, possibly consider 147 or GT also, I'm based in Hertfordshire.

Any advice on what to look out for? So far my list:

Check for service history - cambelt, waterpump every 60k miles.
6SPD gearbox indicates 140/150 bhp engine.
Check floorpan for corrosion - under rear passenger footwell?

Cheers

That's a good list. You will also encounter knackered suspension bushes, mainly at the front.
Good buyer's guide here, and he may be handy for you too:

That's optimistic...36k/3yrs is recommended.

36 is still recommended for diesels. The water pumps are notorious for seizing up. I saw one yesterday that had a pump 2 months ago and was starting to leak out the bearing. Genuine pump aswell.
