Hi guys,
I've been offered this lovely Westfield Seven project and I'm trying to get an idea of its age and if its a factory built car, it has the fuel cap inside the boot area, didn't find a chassis plate, fitted with a X flow and solid rear axle, any pointers much apprecated

cheers
Matt

Judging by the windscreen it is pre-litigation. The registration documents may give a clue to the builder.

Vin number may be stamped directly into the chassis in the engine bay somewhere ?

Yep, pre lit, so pre 1988.

ETA: Past all the muck and filth, it looks a reasonable tidy car and would probably clean up ok.

Chassis number is very inconveniant to find. It is on the cross member under the gearbox, only visible with the box out.

It is unlikely that it was factory built, but if you get that number you might have a chance. Looking at it I don't think it is a pre lit, I would say it is a very early post lit version.

It is pre lot, the give away is the downward slope of the door sill as it goes backwards.

That said it does seem to have one piece bodywork and rear arches, and I thought to the pre lit had separate arches.

Pre-lit rear mudguards give it away. they're square without the profile round the edge.

It's a pre-lit SE, there were two versions, the alloy bodied ones and the far more common all GRP type. Both varieties have the L7 type square rear arches, separate on the alloy ones .
The chassis number is often on a welded on plate in order to stop the chassis.tubes being damaged by over enthusiastic hammer work.
Attractive car though.

Thanks guys I'm waiting on the chap finding the papers.. its a very tidy car just been badly stored.. any idea of its value up and running and after a bloody good clean.. I'm guessing its just a 1600cc xflow, 5 speed and fixed axle ..

The barn is full of 80’s / 90’s treasures, just hell to prise them out of the owners hands..
Cheers
Matt

1600 x/flow and live axle, yes. 5 speed, maybe not.

Somewhere around £3k I'd reckon. Maybe a touch more if it can be fired up and moved under its own power.

a few months ago (during the kitcar "season") i have bought a nice pre-lit, with a fresh MOT for 3500

a mate of mine another one, incl. MOT for 3800

even this barn find may fire up: 1500-2500 would be max-max!!!
