Gutted on my behalf of stupidity saving myself all of about 30 secs.

The cause of the damage is on my property at an area at the top of my drive leading me to the garages.

I have successfully negotiated this ramp two times before but third time unlucky this happens.

The last picture shows that it is hardly visible unless you crouch down.

But of course I know it's there and in my pride it can not be left and has to be fixed.

I'm thinking well with winter arriving day by day to see the winter over and get it sorted when the better weather is with us.

Unfortunately it's not just scratched,by running my fingers over it I can feel it has grooved but no hole.

So my question is...... Has anyone done similar damage from speed humps or the like and at what cost would I be looking. Would it be best to go a TVR specialist or simple enough for an independent.

I am in West Midlands area if anybody has recommendations where to take it.

As previously said this is not Urgent but getting myself prepared.

Many Thanks Jas

I would try getting some touch-up paint fro Halfords then applying using a cocktail stick. You want to only fill the indent not splosh the stuff around. If your brave, then sand with fine paper & polish !

Worth a try as its not in an obvious area .... then re-assess in the spring

If it makes you feel any better I did the same sort of thing. I had my car up on the type of ramps that you can wind up in height once your car is on them. Having fixed my car up I was eager to drive it and forgot to lower the ramps leading to one of the worst sounds I've enver heard and a sharper than expected exit from the metal ramps. My marks are worse as there is a bit of a gauge there from the metal sills on the ramps. And yes I am the one who posted about dropping a washer into my engine recently. There must be an easier way to learn these lessons?!

Thanks both for quick response.

ESDavey.... To put it simply doing the job myself not Brave at all and happy to let the Pro's do their magic. Just who and at what cost.

Alex.... Nope not feeling any better and feel your pain damaging your pride and joy just for the sake of thinking just a wee bit longer.

Did smile at your post though because that is a sad but funny story smile

And yes I will learn from this..... Take 30 seconds longer and go round the bloody thing smile

I did something similar on my last car but more to the side, so more visible. It stands out due to the white on the blue. I would get a touch up stick and lightly colour it in before taking it anywhere personally.

It's the self inflicted ones that hurt the most. A smart repairer should be able to sort that out without much bother. Should end up invisible.

Here you go.

http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/

A friend used their services and was very impressed with the result. Was on a metallic silver BMW wheel arch that was clipped by another car, leaving 2" deep scratches in a highly visible area.
You'd never know now by looking at it

They may be a tad expensive compared to a Halfords scratch repair kit, but will be way cheaper than a specialist garage. Deffo worthwhile getting it done properly IMHO, as with a bad touch up, it will constantly bug you.

chips away or whatever franchise is probably £100 for something like that. had a couple done in the past.

i repaint of the lower valance is possible , but likely a little more expensive.

if it were mine.....i might be inclined to have a cheaper repair, that area is so easily caught.

Tend to agree with cheaper repair. (Chipaway seems good compromise.)
Just suppose you had pukka respray of valance area (and I'm guessing around £250) and you went and did it again!
You would be even more gutted....

The cheapest option would be to put a ramp in so it never happen again.

Nearly all Chims have similar battle scars. As said, a touch up, and you'll probably never notice it.

T Cut scratch
Wash dry
Add paint from touch up stick
Dry
T cut
Repeat x as many as you need but usually 4 or 5

I've done a few stone chips on different cars like that, and it works a treat but takes ages.

Thanks everyone for the response thumbup

Swisstoni : It's the self inflicted noise i'm trying to get out my head is the problem! Like nails down a blackboard yikes

PJ57 : Thank you for this as I have never heard of them before. And reading through I see they come to you which is nice. And thank you SteveSPG for the guideline price.

cogrog : My cheapest solution is drive 10 mts past and turn round in the wide drive ( Palm to head again). I have learnt the hard way but at around the £100 mark it's not the end of the world. Just rather it go to a set of Estorils i'm in so much desire of.

2Smokin B's : But mine had't got any weeping You could of eaten your dinner from under there... The front was all repainted before I brought the car 4 months ago.. 3500 miles later and two stone chips were my battle scars... And of course there not where that mess is smile

Thanks again all.... Fantastic information once again clap

Use this stuff.........its quite frankly excellent and have used on a number of TVR's

Top tip though......use a fine painters brush to apply vs the ear bud type thing that comes in the packet

Only about £30 and you can use it over and over again every time you scratch your car wink

Ha! I did just the same on my adjustable ramps, had them wound right down too. A single deep scratch behind the o/s rear wheel. Heard it happen but too late to do anything. I use a thick short plank (a bit like me) to reduce the gradient now.
