Hi Folks,
Any recommendations? Tow truck coming in 30 mins. No probs up to now. No pressure developed when pumping so can't get into gear. Linkage and fluid all present although I did have to add fluid.
Suggestions and advice welcome and appreciated.

Probably air in system.
Top up
Bleed. (plus more topping up)
Check for leaks (in footwell and under car at slave).
Change seals or cylinders if leaks found.

Do a search on here, lots of stuff on this subject already.

Rob.

Cheers Rob. Leaking slave cylinder. I'll get it swapped out but not in time for visitors at the weekend. I was hoping to take them out for a drive. At least I can still start it up smile

Ordered the Slave 591231 as per the following thread:
http://www.pistonheads.com/GASSING/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Connecting the master 3/8" to the slave 7/16" needs a extra connector or new hose. What kind of connector/adaptor?
There is a Pirtec beside me, so I could just ask them to make up a braided hydraulic hose as JunglieD had made.
Bore needs to be 0.7"
Any idea on length? I can measure the old one so that's not a big issue. Access is a pig!

Cheers Folks,
AA chap was dry nice and said it should be a straightforward swap. He towed me home and I'm going to have a crack at it on Saturday. Thanks for all the info. I'll let you know how it goes. Good to know about the tvr recommendation in downham market for future reference.

Good luck. If you get stuck give Mat a call. He has his own 2.9 S in mid-resto at the present, totally in pieces in his workshop, so he will have a lot of relevant knowledge.

I picked up the slave cylinder as per part code above, then went to pirtek and picked up some hydraulic tubing with 3/8 and 7/16 fittings about 110cm long. Back to the car, lifted it, removed the old slave and copper pipe and went to put in the new bits.... Blooming new hose would not fit at the master. It was 7/16 as well... Cue hours popping into motor factors to find an adaptor or other solutions. No joy. Went back to the car and took one more look.. Then looked up what a master should look like. Turns out there was an adaptor on the master!!! Removed it and everything fitted! Bled the clutch with one of the self bleeding kits which I had in the garage - seemed to work nicely. Dropped the car, turned it on, closed eyes, prayed a little.... And reversed out of the garage and went for a lovely drive!

Thank you forum members.
Sincerely
Paul
