Battery Earth Point.

Guy's I'm in need of some info please. Whilst changing my battery I have noticed the battery earth cable has at some point in it's life, burnt the outer sheath leaving corroded exposed copper wire.eplace this asap but cannot see where the earth cable terminates as it leaves the footwell. Could you point me in the right direction on how to find the termination point, photo's welcome. Kind regards Gary.

Mine was earthed onto the chassis under the passenger side dash



If you feel the carpets you should beable to feel where there is a hole in the fibreglass of the transmission tunnel ( if that makes sense at all )

I have moved my battery to the boot.

I ran some bloody thick gauge cable back to the original position and joined them up with the original cable.

However I've often read that there is an earth point in the boot - does anyone know where, and is it easy to get to? A closer earth would, I'm sure, be better.

I have run two additional earths from the battery. One to the chassis on the swirl pot and the other to the engine.

This will help and upgrade the main chassis earth behind the drivers side front wheel ,nice thick stuff .

That looks a sweet installation. For now I'm going to keep the battery in the footwell. Just ordered some 35mm welding cable and end fittings. I will also add the extra earths to the chassis as suggested. Thanks chaps.

If you are leaving the battery in the footwell, It may be a good time to move the ECU and loom up into the area behind the cubbyhole above the passenger knees.

It makes it alot tidier in there.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but is it possible to remove the earth connection from the chassis without cutting the carpet ? Can it be done from underneath ?
I'm trying to fit a cut off switch and need to either replace the existing earth cable to a shorter one from chassis to switch and then switch to battery or cut the exiting cable and crimp new ends on in situ......I don't have big enough crimpers...
