I am recovering from major surgery to unblock the main artery serving my left leg (undiagnosed for 4yrs but that's another story!!)... pre operation I could just about climb 1 set of stairs without total muscle seizures. Thankfully I now have full circulation restored and am looking to build up the wasted muscles, buttock, thigh, calf etc I have to be sensible about it and not go all gung ho. So to that end I have an exercise bike and thought I would try step ups as well (bottom step of stairs).

So I can form some kind of benchmark my query is: how many can an average PHer do, aged mid 50's, average build,13st, 6ft tall complete in a session before the legs give up?

For the record I did 3 x 100 with about 30 mins gap today (last 20 or so were pushing to the limit) and hope to gradually build this up before going on long walks or bike rides.

Many thanks in advance wink

That is a huge improvement. With any recovery process, small steps!

No takers never mind. Just been for a 2 hour walk up and down the Cotswold hills.........what a pleasure after only being able to look at them out of the patio door for the last 4+ years..... in law's dog almost loved it as much as I did biggrin

Nothing to add other than to wish you well with recovery. Sounds like a pain in the arse, but being able to get out for that walk will no doubt of done you the world of good!
