Recently aquired some wheels to act as a full size spare on my 350 ( 205/60 15's) I put the spare in the boot wheelwell but found with a full size spare I can't get the roof panel into the boot and get the boot to close. Am I being dumb here or what? How do you get a full size spare and the roof centre panel in the boot and get the lid closed? Tia Ron smile

Hi Ron…I have a space saver in the boot of the 350i and the roof just about fits in there..In fact its got a tiny tear in it now because its so tight in there..Should of used my spare targa panel bag!..Might just take the wheel out and replace it with a tin of inflatermate…..biggrin

Tried that but boot stays catch on the top holding the boot open by about 3 inches !!!

Zig. Tyre weld is ok - it's what I've been relying on for the last few months but it won't help if the tyre deflates quickly at speed- by the time you pull over the tyres shagged and no amount of tyre weld is going to get you mobile again.

Looks like I'll have to play about with it to see if it goes in in a particular way - otherwise it's a choice of what do I leave at home and risk getting stranded with a puncture or getting wet if it rains biggrin

I can't understand how yours doesn't fit in, I've got the space saver and my one piece roof panel goes in no problem over the top of the wheel. Wooly.

Empty the boot before you put the spare in or else it will sit too high. Put the roof in the same way up that it does on the car. I've had full-sized spares on both 350i's (but a spacesaver does give you much more boot space)

Hi Ron, idea Adapt your boot lid then to be like mine, ie when trying to adjust the catch use excessive force and shear the bolt heads off banghead and then the catch comes off and viola....a quick opening boot lid silly
Of course try to remember to not leave any valuables in your boot !!! smile

Anything in the boot stuck under the spare wheel will stop the boot from latching properly. Mine is very tight and I have to play around with it to get it to close properly but it does and that's while it is in it's roof bag!!!

On my old 350i I used to think I had a full sized spare then one day I took it out and found its diameter was an inch smaller than the wheels on the car, but it looked exactly the same.

I had a full size spare and could get the roof in no probs but there is more room with a space saver which I have now. Found one on a well known auction site for a tenner!
