As my automotive knowledge knows no ends..... paperbag

I had a tentative twist of the wing nut type bleed valves, the other day and they seem pretty solid.

I presume it's just a case of some WD40 & brute force or have I missed something ? I can see a nut at the bottom of the nut, I haven't got to loosen that off have I ? smile

No you don't have to unfasten the nut. Just turn the T bar thing anti-clockwise.
I use an adjustable spanner if they are seized up.

If they leak its probably corrosion/scale. Don't over tighten them to stop a leak. They are brass and too tight will split them and cause a permanent leak.

They can be removed from the rail (using the nut) to clean the sealing faces.

Just as Mike says - just nip it up to stop water coming out.

Also, when I do this, I do it on an upward incline. I find it a good way to get the last of the air out (and I repeat the process, coz I'm paranoic)
and don't forget to replace with antifreeze to top the ratio back up. wink

Have you got a piccie of the engine bay with the bleed system on show?
You must have a fair amount of stainless connectors and braided hose providing some bling cool
