Clio 182 Trophy (# 224)

Hi all,

First post on the forum so go easy

Anyway, I thought I'd post up some photos of my Clio 182 Trophy which I purchased earlier in the year. This is build number 224 of 500.

Please excuse my poor photography skills...

That is gorgeous, the colour and wheels just go so well together,

Any mods or plans? If it was me I would keep it just like that.

Only mod is want if I bought one of these is a Scorpion exhaust. They sound superb!

Lovely. I think these have aged really well and I have a massive soft spot for them.

A 182 (ideally a Trophy) is very high on my list yo replace my company car when I opt out.

Would be interested to hear about the running costs / reliability so far.

Great choice. Good pics. Was considering these and an early 197. In the end I went for the latter as a better everyday prospect, better ride etc. The thing that really swung it for me is that early 197s are now cheaper than tidy trophies!

Thanks for the kind words.

Got quite a few plans for it actually, mainly just refreshing parts and tidying it up. It's getting on a bit now and has covered nearly 93,000 miles.

LOL, hadn't noticed that!

Yes it's lot of fun- I still find myself taking the long way home after work.

Do you mean the RS192 exhaust? I've yet to hear one myself, but it's definitely the best looking exhaust for these IMO. The slash cut tips look much better.

Not really had any problems with reliability. Had an injector fail not long after I got it, I bought a genuine one brand new for £32 and it took 15 mins to fit. In hindsight, I wish I'd replaced all four. It's on my list of things to do in the New Year.

I had another 182 prior to this and never had a single problem with that. They are generally reliable cars if they have been well looked after, but then they don't cost much to fix if they do go wrong.

As above, I'm on my second 182 and had no issues other than a faulty injector.

Fuel economy is good, my commute is 25 miles each way, mainly A and B roads, where it sees between 35-40 MPG.

Parts cost nothing (relatively speaking) and servicing is cheap. The only thing worth noting is the cambelt/aux belt change which really is a job for a specialist and costs about £450. Most people choose to change the dephaser pulley and water pump at the same time which bumps the price up to about £600. It's due every five years or 72,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Thanks mate. It's surprising how the 197's have come down in price. I'd quite like one but the fuel economy puts me off!

I have had mine for nearly 2 years, it was a 2nd car until June this year but now I am using it daily. I have put 10k miles on it, so now up to 62k. I have just had the front dampers done, my next upgrade will be a Pure Motorsport exhaust, it looks and sounds good and they have a better solution to the crappy rear exhaust hangers which don't last long.

Lovely car, I had one for a couple of years. Had to do the oil burning company car thing for 4 years whilst I got my first mortgage and it had to go (its still got my old plate on I believe). Considered another but opted for a 200 Cup instead. Different car and both have advantages over each other in different areas.
Enjoy it, no doubt it will look after you when you come to sell it too if you keep it in as good a condition as you are. Good car!

Stunning car! Had #478 myself a few years ago. There are some choice mods that you should do which improve things even further:

Silvervision indicator bulbs all round
CTR Bee sting aerial
Janspeed exhaust
Braided hoses
Updated discs and pads
Wiper stalk conversion

Ok time for a bit of an update (nothing too exciting sadly).

With the Trophy fast approaching 94k, I decided to get it booked in for a service. I'll be dropping it off first thing tomorrow morning at Constella (French Car Specialist based in Shepshed, Leicestershire) along with the following parts:

5L of Elf Evolution SXR 5W-40
NGK PFR6E-10 Spark Plugs
3L of Elf NFJ 75W-80 Gearbox Oil
Oil filter
Pollen Filter
Air Filter
10L of Renault Type D Coolant
Thermostat
Sump Washer
Gearbox drain plug washer

All genuine parts supplied by Adam @ Renault Wolverhampton, service was superb as ever.

Looks lovely! I have number 380/500 and love it, apart from it having Toyo T1R tyres which don't feel quite right - rubbish in the cold and wet (on it when I bought it).

Are you running Pilot Sport 3s/Pilot Exaltos as it should be?

Funnily enough I also have T1R's (fitted by previous owner). I really don't rate them so they'll be replaced some time this year.

Considering the PS3's or possibly AD08R's.
