The lack of a target has really dented my motivation since DunRun so I'm determined to set a few for 2014 to keep me focused, I've promised 4000 miles but that alone isn't enough to keep me going.

I'm seriously considering this as my main mid season goal, has anyone done it/want to do it?

I've done a couple of centuries and did DunRun+back to Ipswich this year, so 240 is further but not dauntingly so.

I live 12m from Newhaven so we're doing Eastbourne to Paris on the 2nd May bank hol. 4 of us so far. Sat night 11pm ferry, 129 low traffic miles Dieppe to Paris, back by train on the Monday (not a bank holiday in France). £35 return foot passenger + bike on the 4hr crossing.

Book cheap accom with free canx, no need to pre book ferry or return train, then you can re-arrange easily enough if the weather's ste.

Welcome to tag along, I've got 4 twin rooms booked at a central Campanile @ £36 per room...

That is an awesome offer I may well have to take you up on it, work/family commitments to be fine tuned.
I'm not to far away from you as it happens, 20 miles from Eastbourne.

I'd still be looking to do the Scope event in July but this could be ideal prep smile

the scope event is here for anyone that is interested, somehow missed adding that in the OP.

cool welcome to email me jayfish.

TH did a 'selfie' too rather than a big organised ride iirc. We'll leave Sat 5-6pm, do 1000m over the downs to Ram Inn @ Firle for dinner on way to Newhaven, and get fed & lashed up in Paris after the ride.

Route http://www.donaldhirsch.com/dieppeparis.html

Talking of targets, this is a loose prequel for another cheeky alps trip for us. We went in June and the Galibier was still closed by snow, so there's some unfinished business there.

I'm currently toying with the idea of doing this. Any tips or suggestions? I only want one night away.

Current thoughts are leave London early Tuesday and get to Paris very late evening, then get the train back that night. Possible?
