In the gym on Friday & the final round of the AMA superbikes was on - I've never watched it before but as a regular Superbikes/GP viewer I thought I'd give it a go.....
So, we've got the equivalent of British Superbikes - it's the biggest of the USA domestic series. The racing was great - but the commentary was absolutely shocking - really diabolical - the camera work was even worse, shoddy & slack! The commentators added no value to the visual, they had no anecdotes about any of the racers & their history, or the teams. Actually I lie, they did say about 30 times that Mat Mladin didn't need to win cos he already had the title in the bag.......For an hour we followed the leading 3 without any footage to speak of, of the other 20 or so racers - some, like Regis Laconi, fresh from his 2nd place in WSB were in the field didn't even get a mention.....
During the whole hour, they managed some vague comment about one rider "loving motorcycles just like his good ole paaw" but that was it!

Anyway, suffice to say - I'm really glad we have the likes of Moody, Ryder, Whitham & Burnicle to provide us with so much 'added value' insight and humour to the racing.

You are so right. I watched about 5 laps of that before giving up 'cos of the commentary. Things like "...and he's down the straightaway past Matt Mladin and straight onto his knee-slider-puck-box for turn 2...". It was horrible. No insight at all.

MotoGP - good stuff, professional and entertaining.

WSB - a bit like watching with your mates down the pub, racing often just as good MotoGP and enjoy the dry humour and general p*ss taking.

AMA - good racing, when you see it, but commentary leaves me losing the will to live sometimes, so don't watch much of it.

Steve.
