Headlamp lense tinted or not?
Discussion
What do you recon guys?
I am having a front end re spray on my ruby mica red griff and wondered if the new headlamp covers should be clear or tinted? Can't really make up my mind so thought I would throw it open to you all for opinions, tinted or clear???
I've also been thinking of protecting the shiney new front end with a paint protection product such as paint shield. Are there many of you who have used it and what do you think? Is it worth the money? Any recommendations as to who to use in the south west.

There are some threads on this very subject if you do a search.
Personal decision really but i would guess tinted. Mine are tinted but on a dark mica blue.
I have just taken my lights out to clean and re seal. What a b
d of a job that was. Got to put them back yet and i believe thats even harder work.

I have a (high quality, there are lots of rubbish around) bi-xenon upgrade behind clear covers and i was shocked by the improvement. As said, the normal lights behind clear covers are bad enough. I agree that looks are very important, but we are also talking about safety here..... By the way, i have new but small lenses, so not the 7" upgrade because i think this is how the original pure design was meant. Lots of light now as i also have xenon in the 2 lights in the grille. So a total of 4 xenon which give some really proper lighting.

Some great comments and advice guys, thanks very much. Sounds like clear is the way to go and to be honest that keeps it looking more original. The car is going into central tvr on Thursday so I will discuss possible headlight upgrades with Adrian.
I took advantage of my recent mishap to upgrade the front lights to 7" ones. I've always felt that the 5" lights apart from being rubbish look a bit lost and make the front end look like it's squinting. (A bit like the driver does at night trying to see.)The 7" lights were fitted to the SEs So it's a mod done by TVR that was worthwhile. The difference is unbelievable and is more in keeping with the age of the car than the white light of Zenons or HIDs in my opinion. The lenses on mine are tinted.
Also the danger of non standard HIDs remains as a potential MOT fail in future. They all pass at the moment but it's still mentioned in the MOT rules and may be re-instated in future when they decide to mess around with the MOT again.

Really not a fan of those, their saving grace of course is they're (reasonably) easy to reverse by swapping out the pods.Did you convert yours from the quad lights to the 7" single as you suggested you might do on that thread?
Sorry I saw this topic a bit late, but as a matter of interest, one of my Griff lenses got cracked four years ago (long story!) so I decided to change them and have the front resprayed due to stone chips while they were off. I took the headlamp pods & light out & was amazed how dull the reflectors were. Avoiding touching them, in case any silvering came off (I don't know if it does or not) I cleaned them by puring warm soapy (washing up liquid) water ito the units and swirling it about before leaving it to soak for an hour or so, then repeating I rinsing out with tap water. The process was repeated with meths/water mixture and finally with isopropyl alcohol & allowed to dry. After all this the reflectors looked like new.
Since the car is dark blue I thought the slightly tinted reflectors Dom at TVR Power sells would look good. You would hardly notice the tint, and night time driving has been much improved. Probably not as good as the 7" conversion, but I personally like the looks of the smaller headlamps and would rate the light output as having gone from "poor" to "not bad at all". I did the same to the lower main beam lamps as well. Check to see the rubber boot at the back of the reflectors is properly fitted. I think general road dust etc gets in through that route.
