Hi,
I've recently been lucky enough to acquire a 2500 (Vixen) handbook (original as far as I know) from a very kind member of the TVRCC.

The handbook lists the camber, toe in settings and tyre pressures front and rear which I'm sure will be useful at some point.

It also states the dry weight as 2280 lbs and complete weight (including fuel, oil, water and tools) as 2390 lbs. Could these be for the Hybrid with the M chassis possibly?

I have a jpeg of an American Vixen 2500 spec sheet which lists the weight as 1750 lbs. The 1971 Hot Car road test states the weight is 17 cwt which I think is 1904 lbs.

Does anyone know what the definitive weights are for the 2500, the Hybrid and the 2500M?

Where is the spare wheel located in the Hybrid?

Does the M series chassis really weigh several hundred pounds more then the Vixen chassis?

Does the M chassis have different camber and toe in settings to the Vixen?

I'd be grateful for any clarification.

Many thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris, not sure about the 2500, but I have the figures from my M.

Cabin with seats, windows, fuel tank etc. ex doors 220kg

Engine (jag S) with gearbox, 170 kg

Frame with wheels, dampers and driveshafts 200 kg

My guess is that doors, bonnet and all the small bits is anoter 200 kg, making the total weight around 800 kg. The original Essex 3.0 engine and gearbox is around 130 kg more, makeing the original car around 930 kg

That's a fabulous garage you've got. It must be a pleasure working in it.

The 1974 Autocar road test puts the 3000M kerb weight (including oil, water and half a tank of fuel)at 20 cwt which is 2240 lbs. It also states 1080 kg which is 2376 lbs ???

The TVR handbook for the 2500 Vixen or Hybrid states the dry weight is 2280 lbs. I was under the impression that the Triumph engine and drive train weigh less than the Essex.

I bet your M will be fun when it's finished.

Regards,

Chris

Hi, thanks for the comments on my garage, with floor hear as a must in cold Denmark.

As for the car, it is driving, even a few mods will be done in the winter to make it leagal for the danish hillclimb competition (rollcage, FIA seats, etc. + new cams, lightweight flywheel, R tyres and some bodywork work)

And it's a thrill to drive
