I've recently installed a SLx Omnilink (27872HS) to extend the range of the remote from my satellite receiver (Non Sky, Technomate 5402 HD) to another TV in a different room.

After loads of issues, mainly an isolated wall-plate, I now have it all up and running most of the time.

I say most, as occasionally I lose the signal on the main TV. I've gone through every connection, double checking all plugs and connections, soldering where necessary.

Having ripped it all apart again today, it seems that the issue only happens when the secondary TV is plugged into the Omni-Link. Unplug it and it's fine, plug it back in and the signal goes on the primary TV again.

Watching it at the moment and it's fine, even when all plugged in, which is good as I'm trying to watch F1 today, but knowing that it could fail at any second does not inspire confidence in me.

If it helps, it's a lot more prevalent when watching in HD, so possibly a signal thing. I know I could watch everything via satellite, though my dish is not usually pointing at 28 East, so I don't really want to do this.

Any advice welcomed, though I know that these things are not exactly in abundance. smile

Hi Daveentry.

What sort of tv is the second room one?

Could it be putting out a voltage that could only cause the interference when it is on and trying to send voltage up the cable at the same time as the omnilink is trying to send a voltage down to its IR receiver.

V.

Just logged in and seen this... Co-incidence VEX smile

The TV in the bedroom is just a 22" LG (M2250D-PZ) and was fine up until putting this Omnilink into the equation.

I was previously using a generic aerial amplifier which was fine, but I wanted the ability to change Sat channels, hence the magic eye. Since I wrote the original request it's been fine (typical really) though I still don't trust it to be reliable at the moment.

I was really wondering if anyone else had had any issues with these things, though it seems they have a limited audience due to it being aimed at those of us with non Sky boxes.

I've been searching loads of forums though have yet to find an answer. Got me thinking it may even be a faulty unit, as most people have no issues with them

As for your voltage suggestion, I'd probably say no due, to the original set up working fine. Unfortunately the Omnilink will not work with any other amplifier in place. Been there done that.

Thought I'd just put this to bed in case anyone else ever has similar issues: -

Changed the RF channel on the sat and the second TV which, whilst not curing it, helped a lot.

I then split the aerial signal between the main TV and the sat box, which has sorted it completely. The signal wasn't strong enough to get from the receiver, through the Omnilink switch and back to the main TV. A £3.99 splitter has made it all OK. smile

Thanks to all who replied, it was a specialist satellite forum who gave me my answers.
