I appreciate that there are a lot of ECU threads on here at the moment and that some of the more experienced PH'ers are bored of these questions, but imagine if you will that somebody does't know much about ECU's (namely, moi)!

So, if I purchase a used MS2 or MS3 ECU and a loom from Shaun for the RV8 what else do I need? Coil packs? EDIS system? Trigger wheel and crank sensor?

What is the difference between wasted spark and the other systems? What system do you need to ditch the AFM?

Can somebody tell me what is what?

Best advice I can give is to discuss it with Shaun smile You'll need the trigger wheel etc, coz you'll be losing the dizzy, and fitting coil packs, and you can lose the AFM and open up the induction side properly....

Speak to the experts... you'll get a no nonsense honest and understandable explanation from someone like Shaun...

Thanks Chilli

I was considering purchasing a used MS3 and then adding the bits I needed; but of course purchasing the loom from Shaun (as recommended by Phazed). I got a reasonable installation price for a complete kit from Shaun, but would quite like to do it myself and try and save some costs. I understand that some MS setups use the Ford EDIS coil packs, but sequential possibly uses and different type of coil pack? I'm trying to cost things to see what is viable at the moment.

The trigger wheel site gives a parts breakdown, but parts are very much down to a price.

Might be cheaper to buy the lot in a bundle from EFI Extras or you could try trigger wheels for The Lambda and other bits .

Are there any disadvantages using the Ford coil packs ?
