Just wondered if we might have anyone on here involved in this brave new world of 3d scanning and printing? Looking for someone to work with us on a project. The size of it prohibits us investing in our own kit to do it....

It is probably better to use an Internet based business like Shapeways. I thought Sheffield Uni had a manufacturing department with various additive manufacturing systems, but their web site doesn't seem to know about it.

We sell 3D printers and have been in the market for over 10 years and have the sole supply in the UK for the UP Mini, UP Plus 2 and Tiertime 3D Printers. Prices start at £700 + VAT + Delivery.

We also sell 3D Scanners (Next Engine is the entry level scanner), but again we sell rather than offering a scanning service.

If you want a one off 'scan and 3D print service' then local Universtites delivering some sort of engineering / mnafacturing degree course maybe able to help you, or better still contact a local 'Fablab' and they will be able to do it for you (there is one in Keighley).

Cheers. BB.

I know its not Sheffield or Leeds, but I'm sure Huddersfield University have 3D printing capabilities (well they did when I was studying there between 2004-2008. Id assume they still do it. and the University is big on engineering and manufacturing. Hope that helped!

If I remember I'll grab my latest copy of whatever engineering and manufacturing magazine lands on my desk at work, I seem to remember seeing a directory of companies doing additive manufacturing, 3d scanning etc

Excellent......good name as well. Where you get him from?

My Wife wants another from the same breeder and likes the idea of a black one this time, but I fancy the idea of a French Bulldog.
