Hello & help ?
Discussion
Hi all , 1st post & its a call for help!
Have this Cerbera now for around 9mths, its a 4.5 98 & all has been going well until yesterday.
My own fault , I decided to clean the boot out, I vacuumed it & then I started on the top shelf where all the Black boxes are. I moved each one, the one with all the connectors in I managed to snap a wire off, I found out it was an earth & just fixed it back in by refitting a new small spade terminal into the block, all good it works fine.
Now there is a whole list of things that do not work at all? Its a long list so please bear with me /
This is what I have found out that is NOT working.
Buttons-lights for the air con & rear window,Interior fans, Wipers & washer,Dipped & Main beams,Rev counter, Ign/batt light, Oil light, indicator lights (inside & out) ?
The car starts & runs very well.
Here is the bits that are working.
Rear Lights , Fog, Reverse & Brake, F/Side lights,Number plate light,Hazzard lights,Instrument Lights, Radio, Windows/Doors & Boot, Starter, Horn, Interior Lights, Cigarette Lighter.
I have read all the google searchs today & cannot
I have not touched any of the fuses as I do not know which fuse is what & do not want to make it any worse than it is ? thanks

Found the handbook says Fuses Page 36 Err no its on 49 ?
Thanks for the link.
Not yellow its Blue.
I am in work all week & weekends are totally filled as I have my children over so thanks for the offer Gruffalo, I'll persevere here if I cannot win I will have to surrender it to a sparky.
Took out all of the fuses all OK.
I thought that all these items not working were covered by Ign is on , I took the lid off the Black box marked IGn control Module & sprayed some WD in there & dried it with a hair dryer, I realised later I was wrong.
I then went to the front passenger side & looked at the main ECU. all the carpets are soaking wet & it looks as though its been like it for some time.
I took the large plug off the ECU it was all dry there but sprayed it with WD ,took the lid off & put the hairdryer in there too.
I left a hairdryer in there for an hour but then had to go off to work but put some de-humidifiers from the caravan in there hope it helps. Is there any main power feed/fuse to that controls the whole of the ignition on side? Strange that it does not affect the starting & running of the car though ?
I used the car 3 weeks ago & washed it afterwards so it must be leaking somewhere pretty badly, before that its been stood since August.
Also the door mirrors work but the fuel gauge & Clock does not?
I have been told its a plastic car so it will probably be earth related, but surely one earth would cover all?
Thanks for all the help here!

All the control boxes in teh boot are earthed behind the fuel tank, you get to it by removing the helmet holder but not sure that would have an affect on the clock.
The dash controls are earthed up behind the dash. There is also the dashboard control box mounted under there as well, I would be inclined to take a look at that and it's earth point.

The dash pod is held in place by two wing-nuts.
1.you remove the cover under the steering wheel which is held in by a 10mm nut and washer on the right had side of drivers footwell.
2. Push drivers seat back as far as possible and you should have enough room to squeeze under the steering wheel and look up, you should see / feel two wing nuts, undo and remove these.
3. I pulled my steering wheel out and down as far as possible.
4. More of a tip really, when you jiggle the pod free I would put a couple of layers of masking tape on the leather around the holes the thread goes into, this will stop you scratching the leather when putting it all back together.
Good luck and if you get stuck plenty of info on PH from people far more experienced than me !!

had a few more hours on it this afternoon, found the wing nuts on the binacle but it would not lift off ,it seems to be held at the back but I cannot see where or how, I managed to break the wooden dash part.
I had to move a big plastic ribbed pipe to get the wing nuts back on, I must have disturbed something as now the hazzards do not work anymore?
I took the underneath part off & managed to see a very small/fine wire that is not attached to anything, I took two photos on phone but dont know how to put a photo on here?
I also cleaned the Main ECU prongs & now they are clean ,still the same though.
Also noticed that on window/door control box in the boot one of the wire looms leading to the power connector has a a single green wire alongside Black & Red wire that are connected to the plug?
What a nightmare, my neck may never recover being upside down for so long !

I Still cannot find any earth under the dash I have taken quite a few shots as I cannot feel any thing like a main earth at all, I have found what seems to be the main multi plug also this box.

Ok sorry for the photo over load but just hoping somebody can tell me where the dash earth point & Dash Control box is ?

The dash earth point is circled in red.

There are two earth points in the boot. One is on top of the fuel tank behind the control boxes and the other is tucked down behind the tank on the passenger side. Only the one on top of the tank is accessible without at least partially removing the tank, neither is it accessible from behind the rear seats.

The black box looks like the heater control unit with the block connector and ribbon attached and is sited next to the engine ECU in the passenger footwell.http://tinypic.com/3ia3s5e0

The bubbling looks like the damp has got to it so may be worth opening it and having a look for corrosion.
You are not alone, mine was damp too

Thanks for the help, the pic is really good but it looks as though you cannot get to the earth point with the center console in place ? Also is the Dash control box in view there ? Since I posted I looked at it again, I looked at the dipped beam control box in the boot & put a circuit tester on it as its the only place I can find with a definet earth.
Switched the lights on & put the probe end into the red feed wire of the control box & I now have the Dipped beam back ,nothing else but its a start. But it seems I have now lost the door mirrors ?? I think some how I have to really dry this car out, problem is its outside & I have no garage, I may buy a large Dehumidifier, its just so strange that as soon as I fix one thing another stops ? It must be this cold & damp weather. I have a day off tomorrow so will look for the dash controller.
N7GTX RE bubbling ,thank you ,I was hoping it was the Dash controller but you are right about the damp as on the floor I have found a sticky label soaking wet for the Heater control.
Thank you guys ,i really do appreciate your help as I am really stuck.

The door mirror control unit is inside the driver's door. Unscrew all the little socket head screws and lift off the inside panel. Inside the large round hole at the bottom of the door you will find the control unit plus lots of other wiring and connectors.Water had got into mine so I disconnected every plug, multiplug, connector and cleaned, WD40, then refitted wrapping them all with insulation tape. You may have to feel inside the door for the upper micro limit switch wires and dont forget the reed switch - plunger type - at the very bottom of the door, held by a single screw. May as well do the lot in one go.
Remove the mirror joystick (prise out gently) and check the terminals - this was causing my loss of the mirrors. Quick squirt of WD40 sorted them.
What is this "dash control box" you are after? As you can see, I have had mine apart extensively and as far as I am aware there is no such thing. The dashboard functions are driven by a PCB on the back of the dashboard it's self. None of the things you list as not working are going to be controlled by the engine ECU either.
The electrical connector section of the workshop manual shows you the locations of all the control boxes.

Your problem sounds more fuse or connector related than a control box. However the wiring diagrams are here http://www.tvr-cerbera.co.uk/files/WorkshopManual/... so I would start tracing through the diagrams to see if there is a common point at which all these things may have become disconnected.

Hi Byff, thanks for the support, I was always OK with Meccano but never the models with Electric motors etc so I am tredding water here.
Thanks Iain on the doors, will do that later on .
The Dash control box is mentioned 8 post's from the top so I have been looking for it, I cannot see anything like it but thought the heater control was it, also it does not show up on the first link you provided Tangero/Peter, so maybe its not there.
I have not been able to look behind the dash properly, i took the two wing bolts off but it seemed to be stuck at the back I tried lifting it but only managed to crack the wood veneer which really Pissed me off, is there a particular way to prise it off ?
I have had the Main ECU inside & I cleaned it up with terminal/connector cleaner from Maplins & cleaned every terminal with a small needle file for better connection, it was starting & running fine before but 4-5 end terminals were a bit greenish so hope this may help.
Will update later & again thanks guys !!
