Just curious, has anyone on here bought and ran a mega miler for any length of time?

I always buy on condition irrespective of mileage but I've never bought anything over about 130k (so far!)

Funkyrobot, the OP asks a completely different question "Have you bought a megamiler" rather than "Have you seen one for sale".

I'll start the ball rolling in a small way - Volvo V70 D5 Ocean Race, bought at 82,000 and 2.5 years old. Now on 171,000 and 8 years old.

No current plans to change because I can't decide what to get instead.

150K on a 10v UR Quattro.

The turbo sounded like a distant police siren, but only intermittently - not good for my ticker on a number of levels.

It was pretty shagged generally.

80K at just over 2 years old, was the most reliable car I ever owned.
Benefit of motorway miles and regular servicing or just good old random luck?

2004 Subaru Legacy, basic 2ltr version, 124k miles. Only bought a week ago, but so far I'm delighted with it.

Current snotter was bought with 160k but it is 14 years old so not really huge miles. Now at 166.5k after about 3 months and it's going strong

Merc w124 diesel, approx. 300,000 (nearly bought one with over 600). Had an LS400 with over 200 as well. Both totally reliable.

180k audi quattro coupe - spent £3k repairing it, took it to the ring, sold it to my co-driver for £3000 and he trashed it over the next 2.5 years.

Final straw was the heater matrix exploded due to headgasket failure - car was sold for £500 at 220k miles.

My highest is a relatively small 134k, though perhaps it's also relevant that I've never bought a car with less than 90k on it!

I was also looking pretty hard at the 224,000-mile SOTW hehe

Years back I bought a Carlton 2.6 Diplomat with 189k on it and a blown diff'.

I replaced the diff' and smoked around in it for a wee while then sold it to a guy in Berwick. He udes it daily and loved it. He still had it four years afterwards but I lost touch with him after that.

Took a 298,000 mile E34 TDS in part ex for a 540, wasn't even wanting a part ex but he only wanted £200 quid for it and I thought if it makes it here it will make it to the scrappers, and scrap was high then. Ended up putting another 20K on it then sold it for £250 with a slipping clutch thumbup

My E36 328 had 152k on it last year when I rescued it from the inbreeders of Prestatyn. It now has 161,500.
