Quick question

Is it worth holding off to buy a new lid at the Autosport show ? Looking at a new Bell - and although 750MC get a 10% discount with DT - wondered if I could get a better price at the show ?

I've bought a few bits from DT at the show, think I ended up with the best part of 20% off rrp.

I just go to the show knowing what the best price You've found was and see how good at bartering you are.

I bought a load of Sparco Nomex underwear there a couple of years back and certainly saved a fair bit. Last year one stand had a deal on helmet and HANS bought together.

I've never found anything much cheaper at autosport. The best discounts I ever got was from going to Demon Tweaks, in person, and negotiating a price directly with the salesman. Ended up with a great price for an Arai helmet and Sparco clobber. You can get some really good deals on line from Peter Lloyd rallying too.

The big advantage of Autosport show is you can try lots of different kit before you commit to buy. You should be able to negotiate a deal as well

Agree, and a better show. There are a couple of race kit companies that exhibit at RaceRetro that I don't think exhibit at Autosport, too.

You'll find a lot of traders won't have stock at the show. So, you'll have to order it with them.
Some will do 'show offers'. Often they'll do free postage as a 'discount'.
But, at least you can look at, try stuff and talk to people.

Contact Max at Racewear in advance of the show, tell him of your needs and see if he can cut you a good deal.

No matter what you want, it is always worth pushing for a best cash deal. With the economic climate and competition the way it is, if a company is hungry for business it will want turnover and good will.

Won't be able to wait to RaceRetro - new lid will need painting and that will be cutting it short a bit but I'll give Racewear a call smile

Cheers

Never got any discount you couldn't already get, often it's less (given the price of the stands these days, who can blame them), but as already said, a chance to try things, check them over, etc, before you buy is handy, especially if the competition is a few stands away...

I'm sat by the phone ready! PM me what you want I'll see what deal I can do, even if it's not my normal range.

When I used to buy sailing kit from boatshows you could get really good bargains in the last half hour of the last day...

I'm look at the new carbon Bell Touring lid - but apparently they're not even in the country and I really want to try and compare it with the normal one.
