Hi Guys

I'm pretty sure this info is on here already but I can't find it.

Does anyone know where I can source a replacement rad temp sensor and a stat for my 350i FHC?

Had a play yesterday after sorting brakes. It comes upto temperature ok but the fans don't cut in, they do work n the switch so looks like the sensor is toast. Bit of a git to replace by the look of it.

Cheers Karl.

This fitted my '86 350i...

Bast*rd to fit, access after removing the LH headlight pod and/or rad out...

Thermostat is a standard Rover V8 part from the same supplier; I'm running an 88DegC one atm, some would say an 82DegC will suffice - I'm still playing around with the temp rating to see what's best for my car; it runs hot on the gauge with an 88 stat but I suspect the gauge is faulty as it never seems to get close to boiling, and my IR thermometer disagrees with the gauge. At least the heater is more effective!

Get an OEM thermostat gasket, the aftermarket ones are cr@p.

Thanks Martin

I've had the old temp sensor out and dropped it back in for now. You are right what an absolute #### to replace.

Cheers Karl.

Ive just had my radiator recored and at the same time took the decision to upgrade this to a new type (i.e M22 thread) so a switch can be easily changed.

It took ages to find the right one but with the help from the VERY helpful chaps at V8 Devellopments, i have the correct one now. I have a 90 - 85 degrees one.

Let me know if you do this upgrade and want to know the part number smile
