Engines other than V

Hi all , just wondering has an Ultima ever been built with a high powered 4 cylinder engine in it , Cosworth yb turbo , or super charged Honda spring to mind ? just a thought ?

I don't think one has been made with a 4 cylinder although i could be wrong, i know people have done inline 6 bmw and various V6's, V10's and v12's apart from the usual V8s. But i think you will find that most of the other choices the engines will struggle to beat something like a LS3 for weight and power although it is always good to be different .

Any details of inline 6s being used? I have seen some on race cars but not on road cars.

BMW M3 race engine would really be something, very tempting. And you could always pack a porker engine in it.

Cosworth 4-cyl Turbo has been used in a Sport
x2 'Busa Turbo engines in a Sport (One feeding front wheels, one to the rear giving 4-wheel drive!!)
I think a Porsche flat-6 went into a GTR too??

pretty much everything has been treid..rotary, 4cyl, 6 cyl, flat 6, v12,v10,v8.... cant think of anything that hasnt been tried (other than one of Pauls old meteor engines.. lol)

yes z cars did the 2 x bike engines, the straight 6 in the german race car, various v6, v6 turbos, v4 turbos etc etc

now when will we see a v10 turbo diesel..hehhehehe

Paul B is correct. Lawrence Farmer in Morgan Hill California installed a 600hp Porsche turbo motor in a GTR. Workmanship was absolutely to the highest level, but that is a very large engine with turbos and intercolers which requires a bunch of modifications and makes the engine compartment very full. Lee

Wouldn't be a very light weight car with a 27 litre Meteor V12 and you would need to stop for fuel every 70 or 80 miles (if you are gentle with the throttle)!!!!

The beauty of the Ultima is the ability to use a variety of different motors.

Also there has been a 9ltr Quad cam twin turbo 1650bhp engine fitted to one. No idea how they got it to fit as its basically a big block with 4 valve heads! lol

Well the tank at the rear could act as a good cushion. Not so sure for the contents...!
