Clearance Sale?
Discussion
Just done a google search for a 17mm flex head ratchet spanner to help replace my engine mounts. One of the top hits was Halfords that had an on line price of just £3. I reserved it for collection from my local store and they called a few minutes later to let me know it was ready. They told me that the in store price was still a shade under £16 and they didn't know which items had been included in the on line clearance sale.
Happy hunting.
Happy hunting.
Update: got the new mounts fitted and now I really do have clearance.
. Between my sump and ARB where there was none before. Whoop-de-do. Next job is the last stubborn bolt on my near side manifold. Isn't responding to tact and diplomacy, so gonna have to get mean with it so I can change the blowing gasket.

Don't get too mean as it will shear off. Lots of penetrating oil and wiggle back and forth. A sharp tap on the head can sometimes help.

Thanks for your post Rob. I have tried the usual gentle approach with no luck. It is the near side rearmost top bolt and you cannot get a socket or ring spanner on it due to the proximity of the pipe bend. I have ground a ring spanner down with no luck. I have been soaking it in Plusgas, WD40 and a freeze spray for close on 2 weeks. Still no joy. I have now filed a 3/16 Whitworth open ended spanner to be a very tight fit using a hammer as encouragement to fit the slightly damaged bolt head. This gives good purchase, but still no joy. I started to use my heat gun today followed by freeze spray. I will keep this up for a day or two. Failing this, I may have to cut off the bolt head (it's the last bolt) and try a stud remover on the bolt tail. Just glad I am not under time pressure. Lol. Joe
