Needed new rears for my V12VR
I've always sourced tyres for my Audi DD independently but on my previous V8s, Stratstone Wilmslow have been very competitive
But in this instance, for 295/30/19 Corsas, they wanted £600+ per tyre ! (I can't remember the exact price as it was so high I almost fell off my chair, I initially thought it was a price for the pair - I think it was £635 each IIRC and that was supposedly cheaper than they should do them at). Said they couldn't do them any cheaper - I actually believe them
Found a few places online doing them at £355-£365 each, all in. Armed with that, got my local place (who also fit my Audi tyres) to then do the pair at £699 fitted, VAT inclusive, etc
That full price from Stratstone was staggering !

Hi Jonby,
I can only assume that when you buy tyres from a main dealer that they are coming through the parts dept . As a consequence AM Gaydon are having a nice cut out of the deal. We are fortunate that we can at least shop around and are not tied to the Dealership Network . I believe if you own a BMW X5 the only place you can source tyres is your main dealer.

Nah, we use Central tyres for our X5, they price match Black Circles too. I can only assume that when you buy tyres from a main dealer that they are coming through the parts dept . And why have you not yet put your name down for the Rockingham roll young Robert.

I must admit I was pretty pleased to get 10k out of the rears - probably about 2-3k miles left on the fronts (4mm)
I got about 12-15k miles on my rear Bridgestones if IIRC on the V8
I was down to 2mm on the rears, from a mixture of probably half motorway miles and half hard miles
I think Stratstones said they had AM or possibly one other source that they were limited too. They said they don't recall putting new tyres on a V12V so far - it made me think - probably aren't that many sold as replacements bearing in mind the typical miles on most V12Vs and of course the tyres are unique to this model, so probably not something many hold in stock, which would explain the price

Blimey 10k out out of the Corsa tyres is good Jonby Not gone for winters as I do very few miles in the Aston, regardless of tyres or conditions, between November & March so it just doesn't seem worth it
On non-Corsa Zeros, I considered it on purchase but thought I'd see how I did on the first set of corsas and make a decision from there. I think it comes down to personal preference & usage - for me, V12V/R is a car that is amazing in optimum conditions, difficult in anything less than optimum conditions. Corsas could be described in the same way. So the corsas fit the personality of the car. I fully understand those that go down the route of 'standard zeros' though

£699 fitted is a fair price (for a pair!!!!)
Tony, out of interest, how do the regular PZeros compare on price?
