Great. My insurance is up this month and I was planning to move to LV based on all the other Pork owners' satisfied comments (in the other thread)....
Now if they're stopping modified cars, then I guess a supercharger ain't too subtle. Anyone got ideas re: sensible insurance on a supercharged 911?? I've been with Privilege for god knows how long (7-8 yrs?) but they weren't that competitive when I got the car, let alone now it's modified...
And is it the case that these brokers can take your money, then after a few weeks/months the underwriters change their mind and the broker tells you to
off? Bloody racketeers.

Well well well. I phoned LV on the offchance, having got a bunch of other quotes for my 993.
They came up with the old 'don't care about mods unless the engine capacity's changed' line, and were also happy with last year's 14 day ban. All good, and a quote just over half of the next best insurer (Privilege, my current insurer)
They are sending the quote in writing to me. After the comments early on in this thread, should I be worried re: a scam or not? I don't fancy paying the money, then a week later getting told the insurance is cancelled and I'm out of pocket.
Seems there's a bit of FUD floating around about Liverpool Victoria. Anyone else recently got quoted from them??

My policy has just started with LV, which was half the price of my previous insurer Privilege. No problems about non standard wheels etc.
Reading other threads and forums it seems that half the people have had the same ease as myself and the other half been told no-mods etc, for some they would not even quote!
This is all very odd.

Mmmmh very odd. My insurance with L&V started on the 25th October. Very cheap, introductory 1 year NCB (all NCB on my main car), told all mods except capacity change are OK but no track day cover. Doesn't seem to tie in with what I'm hearing here. Could there be more than one underwriter?

They certainly don't cover track days.
hi Daz sorry just a little annoyed. Please delete this if it contravines any forum rules. Its probably me over reacting anyway.
As you know I bought my car early december last year. Obviously I got a quote before I started looking to make sure that all was within budget.
My Integra was already insured with LV with a little over a month left on the policy.
So I ask how much to swap. it worked out a lot cheaper they even sent me a cheque for over £20 I asked how much it would be for a year when my current policy runs out.
Around about £500. Thannks very much. just got the renual through £870 now I know thats not around £500 even though Im useless at math.
So I phone them up "supprisingly" they have no record of a quote, anyone here ever bought and insured a car without getting a quote? after a bit of conversation they admit sending me cheque. Funny why send me a cheque if its costing the same to insure both cars
Any way I ask if they record the tellephone calls a supervisor gets back to me.
If you had insured at the time for a year it would have been £580 but our charges have gone up.
Now its only £300 but its more the principle. I recon they are just trying it on. picked another insureance company out of 911 & Porsche world and the first quote I got was £715.
having said all that £870 is still a lot better than a lot of other companies.

LV do seem a bit confusing at the moment..I have existing non motoring policies with them, they wrote to insist that as an existing customer they would beat any quote to get my car insurance business.
So, I got a quote from them on a non Porsche group 20 car,,it was just over double that of my current insurer...very odd.
