Daz,

I take it you reused the brown 7 way and white 24 way connectors from that engine harness? If not can I buy these off you?

Cheers

I don`t have a clue what you are talking about . I saw a loom part made up with a new connector on it but it was black ,not sure if he has fitted a new one ..

Nothing wrong with the megasquirt it`s self ,it did the job very well . The problem was the very poor wiring ,not just untidy , it had ground problems caused by a very bad install .I could not trust it .

You can see all those cables which were part of the 14cux install ,it was a mish mash of poor connections and tangles .

Daz will be using his connectors as the new loom will no doubt reuse the old halfs and plug straight in under the dash.

Daz, that's why I put a new loom in both cars.

It's not a lot of money and neatens up the whole install smile

Even the alarm is a mess ,he found an extra relay and there is a connection on the bottom diode in between the rev counter and speedo ,its illuminated all the time even with the ignition off and alarm off ,its a constant battery drain .

There should be a resistor or diode across the ign warning light (if it is lit whilst the ignition is off either your alt is furked or the ignition circuit is permanently live) which is there in case the bulb/diode fails so that current is applied to the alt field coils at start up so it charges as soon as spinning (doesnt need to reach @2500rpm before starting to charge ie 'self-excitement').

Sounds to me more like the rest of the wiring has been butchered and removing the standard resistor/diode will just cover up a fault, it simply goes across the diode (but typically spliced into the loom as the diode terminals are small / fiddly).

Errrr....not right now. Waiting for visitors to arrive.

Give me credit for not responding to the guy who described a Tuscan gear lever fix as "something for the weekend"
And then went on to hope that the "errant screw hadn't found its way to the outside world".

My awful sense of humour........

Innuendo (noun) in-you-end-oh.
1. A type of humorous response seen on Pistoneads
2. Something that happens if your bottom diode stays lit 24/7

Just a reminder Daz, no "Rats nest".

Chuck it al away and spend some time routing the wiring in the neatest way, it really makes a difference.

Dave I witnessed this up the Pod its the alarm LED that glows all the time frown god only knows what the alarm installer did to make that happen its generally a 2 wire loom that plug's directly into the Cobra alarm module/controller confused I have a funny feeling the installer was lazy and just hacked into the TVR fitted LED loom eek Daz your getting there with this car and that alarm problem is only minor thumbup Peter every time I see that pic you remind me that you was a lucky chap to get away with those BB Chevy leads with no alterations hehe remember who gave you the heads up whistle can I have that posh coffee now? scratchchin

So the bottom one is the alarm diode ? I remember seeing a another cable connected to the back of it ,Is it back feeding from some where. ?

I can`t turn the alarm on becauserolleyes it goes off all the time .
