Chap cycled though a pedestrian crossing knocking over a child and seriously injuring her, and to put the icing on the cake then proceeded to run away.

Absolutely no excuses for his actions which were both dangerous and cowardly, but is he being treated differently to a car driver? He's plead guilty to GBH, which can presumably come with a lengthy prison sentence. Would a car driver who knocked someone over and didn't kill them face a GBH charge?

In no way am I defending his actions, I'd actually rather drivers face stiffer sentences for dangerous driving, I just can't work out whether my preconceptions are skewed and actually drivers do face such sentences for such actions.
