I've owned my e60 m5 for the best part of a year now and it's a very very special car to me.

A short while ago, I decided to accompany my friend to Hexagon BMW to help in securing a deal for his mint 55 plate M6 - £10K deposit, remainder at 0 per cent interest over 24 months. He was happy.

On collection of his car we decided to drive out of London using some of the B-roads. We both opened up the V10's side by side (me with the windows down) for a few minutes before resuming sensible driving again for the rest of the journey. When I got home that night, my ears wouldn't stop ringing - I mean really ringing, all I could hear was the sound of a V10 at 8250rpm - this lasted all night, was late into work the next morning.

Anyone else suffer this or is it just my old age?

Errr. Sounds like you have a case of M5isntitatotallyawesomesound-itis to me.

Symptoms may include:

Dreaming of sound of V10 at full revs

Spontaneous wish to find any kind of decent A/B road

Random acceleration for no good reason

"Just going to get a pint of milk dear"

More seriously, I'm yet to hear of an M5 exhaust causing tinnitus, but I guess it's possible.. smile

Hi,

WHATEVER you do, I highly suggest you DON'T get a Tubi or Eisenmann or Switchable type Exhaust on your car!

You'll probably go deaf!

On a more serious note, do get your ears checked out, you just might be overly sensitive to noise levels no matter what the source!

Cheers, Dennis!
