Oil in a 500......15/50 highly recommended

Just a BTW type of note.

I have been using the TVR recommended "bats piss" 0/40 Mobil 1 since I got my 500 in June and have used about 8 litres since then topping the car up every weekend. I have done about 6500 miles since getting the car. So it works out at a litre of oil per 800 miles or so. This is a good 100-200ml top up every weekend.

Had a service and changed to 15/50 Mobil 1 motorsport and apart from the engine sounding quieter I haven't had to put in a drop of oil.

If your holding off changing the oil to 15/50 don't wait another weekend get it done.

TVR should not be recommending 0W/40 for the RV8's.
Did they say Mobil 1 ? As there are 2 main types in this country, 0W/40 and 15W/50 Motorsport.
Nothing less than 15W/50 should be used, mineral or synthetic. Many use a good 20W/50 mineral and change it regularly.

Concur absolutely, I also noticed a drop in pressure when hot after topping up with 5/40 (in Europe it was all I could get). From now on sticking to at least 15/50 synth.
