Dashboard question

I have a October 1987 S1.
The warning lights that i have seen on other models have been covered with a perspex cover similar to my Griff lights.

Mine are just lights on the dash, is this usual?

On the very early S1s yes....... I think they probably are better then the perspex ones as you can see them clearer.

IE on my s2 (perspex covered) to see if the indicators are on it is easier to look at the volt meter rather then the display panel as it is so dark.

Thanks for that, i can still see the volt meter dance but not as much as the griff!
