V12 Vantage S anyone?
Discussion
This is something I predicted would happen a few months ago. Which in turn is why I predicted many more V12VS buyers will look to spec their cars from scratch compared to V12V - lots more options = more ways for the dealers to get it wrong (or simply not appeal to individual preferences)
Dealers are so often incredibly bad at speccing cars. I'm not talking about when they spec them boringly to offend the fewest number of people, just when they spec them poorly
If they are going black body with yellow callipers and dark interior trim with yellow detailing, which is a classic combination, they should have gone for yellow on the struts within the grill area to tie it all together and IMO, avoided the external silver altogether
Or alternatively, if they were keeping the silver roof & lipstick (which I don't quite think works in this instance but I can see why some may like it), they should have gone for silver callipers. Of course that would work even better with silver interior detailing rather than yellow. As it is, IMO, looks like a dog's dinner

Also, does anyone else see £20k of extras on that car ?!?
I haven't kept up with the prices of the silver roof/lipstick/tailgate strip or the new option wheel but that looks like pretty much it for extras apart from a few k for yellow callipers, front sensors, premium stereo and maybe one or two other bits. So where does the asking price of £158k come from ? And who would pay that for an S they haven't specced themselves, even if they (incorrectly :-) ) disagree with my assessment of the spec ?

Completely agree - also strange to see them advertising a new car in this way. It will be interesting to see if AM allow it to continue to be advertised.Dealers are so often incredibly bad at speccing cars. Nicest looking dogs dinner I've seen!
It's all personal opinion, of course I fully respect & appreciate thatI have no problem with speccing the S in a 'loud' way btw - I think there are some amazing combos out there. But for instance, once you are going silver detail, do it all the way. Have silver mesh or silver struts over a black grill mesh. This is just a poor use of the available options from someone with no imagination.

The 'LA Raiders' colour scheme must be a current factory favourite as this is the third one I have seen, does nothing for me and as for the lipstick would you seriously spec that on your £150k car
Actually I would. Especially on V12VS. I'd go for a traditional Aston green, yellow callipers, yellow lipstick, tan interior and a GT4 spoiler. Not that I've thought about it mind :-)jonby said:

Agree. IIRC, aren't the rules 3 months from arriving at the dealership before you can advertise demonstrators/unregistered/'notionally' registered cars ?I suppose that's what comes when you shift such a large percentage of Aston Martin's output in the UK.
Oh, and yes, the car is a mess.
Why would they stick all the silver detailing on the bodywork, then put black wheels on it? Utterly stupid, that would look so much better if it had silver wheels.
No greys, blacks and most importantly, whites in sight.
And every car would have silver wheels

The solution to speccing dealer AM's is a simple one
Let George spec them all
Green..... Silver wheels...... Beige interiors.......no options whatsoever

I'd mix it up a bit with the colours. Orange with black interior. Yellow with black. Blue with cream. Green with cream.

Saw the advert earlier while having a quick scan, the vantage is still a good looking car but that is really trying hard to ruin it. All the stickers look naff and the black wheels are awful.
With all these extra options available it's going to be easy to royally screw up the final look of the car. Maybe trying to find a used example in the future is going to be difficult unless some compromises are made.
Seeing that up at nearly 160k and some tidy 2013 manuals for almost 60k less would make it an easy decision IMO.
