Hi all

Some help much appreciated with an odd noise exhibited by my 1 year old focus 1.6 tdci.

When starting on slight inclines specifically at 1,200 - 1,500rpm and letting the clutch in, a noise best described as Chewbacca (perhaps less warbly) comes through quite loud, any ideas much appreciated before I take it to the dealer.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

We've had this on our shed (1.6 Petrol MK1 Focus) for the past 3yrs (10k miles ish).

Only seems to do it in colder weather (condensation on the plates maybe?)

It'll stay like that 'til it dies completely, it's on the "not worth bothering with" list...

If its only 1 year old drop it by the dealers and let the warranty sort it?

(unless you've burned out the clutch that is...)

Its just coming up to 1 year old and 17k miles although i've only had it for 3k of those (mainly motorway runs) with the car covered by a ford direct warranty. It only seems to make the noise when warm.

incilnation was either clutch related or belt tensioner...

Back to the dealers it goes!

Surely you don't need >1000RPM on a hill to get a diesel moving?

Nope pressure plate and friction disc, seems to have cured it

Depends if he values the DMF or not. They're not fans of being laboured.
