And let's not forget Lewis and the Lotus (GAV 1N) in the cuckoo waltz, seems he demanded a cool car for all jobs. Very sad to see him go. cry

As Mike says they certainly seemed to get through a large number of cars, my favourite was always the RS2000.

Just to be really pedantic:
Apparently the 3.0S's had their engines changed to the later 2.8i's in July 81, or so it says on a web site that seems to know everything about these cars. The 2.8 engine being faster and leaner running.

A very interesting read:

I always thought it was a DeTomaso Pantera in the Cuckoo Waltz, that's the one I remember anyway. I imagine being a flash character he changes it regularly?

Should have googled before posting. Season 2 episode 2 Gavin buys a new car, a DeTomaso Pantera.

Massive fan of the professionals which I watched with my dad as a kid. Got the complete series on dvd a couple of years ago. So sad to hear of lewis collins death and also how long he battled this horrible disease for. Had several capris as a result of the show and I am putting on the dvd's this weekend. Shame its not been mentioned in the mainstream news but hey ho!
RIP to a legend

I was really sad to hear of Collins death this week. I only got in to the Professionals about 10 years ago as I was only born in 1975, and I think I have seen every episode at least 4 times now. The surprisingly deep political plots, banter between the charactors, Ford's various contributions, the dark run down industrial city shots and the fun I have trying to identify all the cars in the background that are now long gone, makes this for me the best cop series on TV and a total nostalgia trip.
Watched a few recorded episodes last night and it was sad to see him in his prime.
Much under-rated the pair of them. RIP.

RIP Bodie.

I remarked out loud at work, "Ahh, Bodies died. Thats sad"
The youngsters queried "Who's that?"
Told them they were too young.
54 year old woman piped up and we reminisced about watching the Profesionals.
She was perving over Bodie and Doyle. I said I preferred the cars.
We then had a great chat about Capris, Granadas and She began to reminisce about bench seats in Ford Corsairs.
RIP Bodie.

I'm sure I read somewhere (might have been Practical Classics) that the supposedly 2.8/3L Capris used were actually rebadged 1.6s as the production costs didn't allow the real thing. The tyre screeches were dubbed on afterwards as the 1.6 was too gutless to 'perform' biggrin
There was also a spate of the same cars (from The Professionals) being used to film different TV shows around that time.

The early series' of All Creatures Great And Small used cars that were hired from the father of a lad I was at school with.
