About three years ago, when I had the Griff, I remember pulling into the Shell station at Bracknell and topping up the fuel.

Bizarrely, when I returned to the car I was five minutes getting the plip to work - I just couldn't seem to "un-immobilise" it. I can't remember how I resolved it but I don't recall that immobiliser ever playing up since. I even bought a spare battery for the key fob, but never got round to putting it in!

Anyway, roll on three years...

On Friday I pulled up to exactly the same pump in exactly the same Shell station in Bracknell - this time in the Tuscan. Filled up with Optimax, paid got back into the car and......

.....exactly the same thing!!!!!!!

Eventually realised that the doofer would go in the slot on the dash next to the pod and that worked. Yet nothing else did including getting out and trying to set and reset the alarm!

So that was Friday, and it's been good as gold ever since.

So how do you explain two different cars having the same problem three years apart, but at the same location? Is that Shell station run by aliens?

Is 'doofer' the technical term?

I read that a lot of petrol stations have installed mobile phone masts into there price signs. Sometimes you can spot them as there is a light on the top. I am wondering if you are using the pump next to one of these signs or indeed if thats the answer and its causing some kind of interferance.
