What coating/product could impermeably seal a tyre?

I have an idle scheme/shed project to take a used tyre and convert it into a bit of furniture, side table/foot stool etc.

Thing is, I rather suspect that the thing will reek of rubber and hence not be entirely conducive to use indoors.

So my question for help/advice is - what sort of compound/product/coating could I apply to the rubber which would permanently and impermeably seal it such that it would not give off the rubber vibes?

No idea on any coatings, but i'd suggest it might not be an issue. I've had an old Goodyear formula 1 tyre as a table for years, don't notice any smell from it.
