Yes, I remember it being advertised last year, although it was listed at £17,000, which created some discussion. I am sure someone could find the thread, I tried but could not find it.

Why is it that when we see Sagairs currently advertised at £55,000, yet 18 months ago they were selling for less than £40,000, nobody suggests that the current prices are unreasonable .

We have to remember that the SEAC is a very rare car, TVR only made 57 of them and I am not surprise they are going up in value.

What they are really worth, I can't tell you, but I love mine, it creates a smile on my face every time I start it up and the smile does not go away until I put the cover back over it.

How do you value this, well if someone offered a straight swap, a Sagaris for my SEAC I would not do it, it would not be enough, that is how much SEACs are worth!!!!!

My opinion is that this car is well worth the money for someone who wants a tidy and well sorted SEAC. A classic car is always worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Nice car.

Good morning everybody.

Please clarify something for me that I do not fully appreciate.

There are those amongst us who insist on originality and that it is this alone that determines the desirability and hence the price of a Wedge. This car is not in original condition, even the engine is not from a SEAC. I have seen a couple of Wedges naked and there ain't much difference between any of them suffice it to say that "Every TVR is different".

So what is so special about this one that justifies the price?

I am standing by for the broadside.eek

Originality is in the eye of the beholder!!

My FHC will have new outriggers (ill keep the old ones for the next buyer)
It will have new paintwork
It will have the interior re done
and it will have another TVR engine (Again Ill keep the 'original' engine)

Now, what part of this is now not factory original?

Its my car, and frankly, if I want to put 18" wheels on it and cut the roof off then I bloody well will!

I have a 390 and TVR only made 103 of them so wonder what mine is now "worth" ???
As Elviswedgely said a car is only "worth" what someone is willing to pay for it. Simple.
I could pretend that my 390 is "worth" £10k and advertise it for that, but would someone pay that for it, very very doubtful !

That SEAC is nice but I think the seller is being a bit optimistic at that price.

That's is my point.

The debate has been that only originality has determined the higher price. That I understand.

Alternatively, there are those amongst us who take a car like a Wedge, change it it to suite their particular aspirations and drive the hell out of it.

Also, there are those who treat their car like an exhibition piece, complete with bags of cleaning and polishing tools. Good luck to them as well.

It takes all sorts and long may they live.

Nope I'm with you Henry - it's an old racer that's been restored - actually that's the wrong word beause that would suggest originality - rebuilt for road use. Probably cost a lot to do hence the asking price looking to recoup.

Even if it was original it would be quite a way down my purchasing pecking order of cars I would blow £24k on!

+1 yes
totally stupid money imho,

and if I wanted (or had space for) a fast modded wedge I'd buy chedder's, keep the £19k change and have loads more fun driving it hard 'cos I wouldn't be worried about getting the odd stone chip.

Wedge owners are a strange bunch. You just love to talk down the value of your marque.

Anyone who has 24k to spend on a car if they were entering a marque for the first time has "Google". Search for that and you will invariably end up here. Every higher end car that comes up for sale seems to be slated for some reason or another. Without doubt that SEAC is a nice car, someone, whether its a past racer or not, has invested alot of money into what it is now and deserves a return for the time. Its probably a better buy now than it was new. We would all like something that looks like that and all of you know what that sort of presentation costs, yet every time its at the top end its negative..........

Strange bunch.....

We may be strange but we must be interesting for you to be reading this forum. 24k obviously is not a lot of money for the posh boys, but us strange lot of Wedgers like to get value for our money and consequently like to express our opinion, which I believe is the whole purpose of this forum. Hey Wedgers?
