It was in the local Scottish News earlier this week.

From what I gather it was taken and then recovered (probably due to tracker)

Just wondered if it was anyone on here?

Found it here actually on PH Scotland

Interesting reading for sure!

Just to add after thinking about it for 5 mins, How many people have the batteries checked on the tracker?

They do last a while but a lot of these cars now are getting on for 10 yrs old. DB7 and Vanq past that age.

Perhaps these batt's should be swapped out or given a bench test and refresh every few years?

I was in Aberdeen yesterday to pick up a car scratchchin

I paid for it first though yes

Good result for the owner, poor performance from tracking company....

Tracker do a system check and battery replacement for around £80 which they recommend every 5 years.

Glad the owner got it back
My tracker sends a regular status report, if they don't get it they will call and check on the car.

I see talk of a tracker battery. But on a previous thread about the main car battery running out, the tracker was blamed (don't ask me to dig it out, I can't remember which one it was). Does the tracker not run off the main battery?

Without wanting to divulge too much on how the tracker works...

The tracker batteries which there are two of, are topped up from the main battery.

The back-ups are of course sealed lead acid type and although have a long shelf life still need checking every so often.

I've not yet got my head around exactly how the Tracker works but I will. What has impressed me is that on the few occasions where Vesuvius has been moved on a trailer, the AM Tracking service have within minutes called me to tell me "Your car is moving but the engine is not running",,,,,,,,as amazing as it is reassuring. yes

I don't know how they work either. I'd be more interested in a tracker that let me log on and see its location myself. I had it moved on a trailer recently, and no one called. I presume the recovery van didn't have the engine running while it was on the trailer.

This worries me too you pay £250 and get no receipt or confirmation and you really don't know if it's working or not .
There should be something you can log into and monitor it yourself at least you would know if it works.

Some trackers can and do allow end users to track via the web.

I think Tracker themselves offer the service as they have loads of different levels of service.

Another easy option would be to buy a cheap phone with GPS and telemetry etc.. and have it plugged in on charge permanently.

A bit of home work should find a cheap phone, non-expiring PAYG that can receive remote signals which the phone can respond to.

Many phones now can remotely report their own location and do a host of other things.

Certainly NOT a replacement for a Tracker, but in addition to a tracker ;-)

Might be the difference of getting your car back one day or not!

Alternatively you can get a Samsung galaxy running Andriod jelly bean 4.1 because every few times you get into the car the bluetooth doesn't connect and you get a call for AM tracker telling you so.

I know mine works as I'm on first name terms with them rolleyes

Can't wait until Samsung get their finger out and release a working fix!
