My new Vantage - and a few questions
Discussion
Picked up my new Vantage last week from HWM. Really happy with the service from everyone there - thanks Stuart!
Experienced 3 rather unfortunate events on the first night - dropped the glass key after FIVE seconds of being handed it, got a chip in the windscreen first night out and the thermostat seems to have failed.
Hoping that was all my bad luck behind me, I had a superb trip to north Wales this week to really stretch its legs. Obligatory pics below. Apologies for the state of the car - the roads were filthy!

So after a 900 miles in the car I have a few questions:
LED lights in the door handles are not working in the drivers door. Are these covered under warranty?
FM radio reception is DREADFUL! So bad I can hardly listen to London radio stations. I've read a number of posts online saying this is common and one in particular claimed this was being caused by interference from the tracker - anyone else solve reception this way?
Across Wales I achieved *ahem* 12.5mpg after some enthusiastic driving. Is this normal to get this bad?!
Right leg was pretty dead after the 5 hour slog back from Wales - cruise control would have helped a lot. Can it realistically be retro fitted and what is an approximate cost?
Many thanks in advance!
Cheers
Marc

Welcome to the madhouse, lovely shots and as for being dirty don't worry they should be used.
Would expect a main dealer to sort out the LED light and the thermostat, you pay quite a premium for that warranty so it should be good.
Not had mine that long and have yet to get down to that MPG but I can imagine that on a good hoon it wouldn't very difficult, it is after all a heavy car to be hauling around.

If the Caterham is also yours then you have a great pairing, they compliment each other very well

Enjoy the Vantage!
Thanks everyone! Hmmmm was hoping the cruise could be added without requiring a new steering wheel so that sounds no go.
Not my Caterham sadly - belongs to a Petrolhead friend who also has a 911 GT3 to play with. My other set of wheels is far more family friendly sadly.
Thanks for the invite 1stAMV8 - we usually try to get over to the roads Betws-y-Coed and Bala at least twice per year!
Car is being collected by HWM on Tuesday to fix all outstanding issues.
Great car - loving it!

12.5mpg is entirely possible when hooning, had under 11.6mpg myself when out playing with Yeti after one of our group Aston runs.

I've done 3000 miles in mine so far and getting 20mpg - sorry all, obviously not trying hard enough. Got 7mpg out of my old MGB GTV8 on a track day so anything is possible if you're on it.
Cruise control - I got the dealer to do this when I bought it. Requires a new steering wheel and ECU flash for which I paid £700. I really wanted it so it was worth it to me and you do get a brand new wheel which somehow makes the car feel newer. Currently trying to sell the old one on eBay if anyone interested.
Radio reception is also poor in mine. There is a company called Paralight who do stuff but I haven't got round to doing anything yet. Not sure if anyone else has had aerial upgraded. Alternatively make sure fuse 22 is out and enjoy V8.

Thanks Pete that's useful. I might be tempted at £700. I pulled fuse 22 on the first night and its a perfect balance of quiet/noise when I want it now but (especially in the south east) sometimes you just need to slog up the motorways for a few hours to get to some decent roads. Cruise and a decent radio help that pass less painlessly....Cruise control - I got the dealer to do this when I bought it. Requires a new steering wheel and ECU flash for which I paid £700. I probably just need to sort my iPod out and man up....
Great car and glad to see your roof off. I made sure I waited for a car with premium audio as an option and after one month of ownership I have had the stereo on once and then I switched it off after about a minute. Loving the car though and it seems to be averaging about 19 to the gallon.
