Folks - could do with some help with finding some Havana Club rum.

I'm not after any of the "posh" ones - just the white one for mixers. I've tried Bacardi & I just don't like it as much. The thing is - it's not for drinking, but for making rum butter for mince pies so I only need maybe 4 miniatureslaugh

We've just used the last miniature we got & our big bottle we got from Cuba is now empty. I've found someone selling the big bottles but as I don't drink very much it's a bit of a waste & the only minis I can find are the dark rum.

The bottle I have is "Havana Club Silver Dry".

Any pointers to stockists would be great - or if anyone has a return flight to Havana I'll pick up a couple of bottles while I'm there!

Either the Anejo Blanco or Anejo 3 Anos will be what you need, they don't make a 'Silver Dry' IIRC.

Both usually available from a decent off licence or supermarket.

It's probably an old bottle I've got but it does say Silver Dry on the front & I bought it in Havana (I did say I don't drink a lot!). I think it's the Blanco one I want.

Lidl's own dark/white rum is pretty good and a full bottle is the same price as a few miniatures smile

Waitrose is good for their range of rums, though this particular one is generally easily found.

On offer until Tuesday: http://www.waitrose.com/shop/ProductView-10317-100...

When I was in Cuba I couldn't believe how cheap certain bottles of this rum was ! £1.50 for a bottle ?? Then in the airport they had a lovely looking bottle that was £1500 , quite a contrast.

Yeah that's it! Didn't pay that though (think I paid about £5 from the Havana Club factory in Havana!).

Annoying thing is I bought 2 bottles & for some reason gave one to my idiot brothermad

Can't find it anywhere - I'll keep looking!

the stuff they sell in Havana will be different to what they sell here (aging, pricing etc...) as they are very different markets.
