Silly question, but what work is normally carried out on a TVR standard 6k and 12k service??

Given that 6k service costs around £420 and 12k costs £650 excluding tappets etc.

Just wondering what ya getting for ya money.

If you'd owned an S6, you'd know that it can get through 11 litres of oil in a matter of weeks... prior to a rebuild.

Honestly, don't know. Does sound quite a lot. Probably something to do with the dry sump.

those schedules always make myself laugh heartily .. how can doing all the extra work on a 12k take only 0.5 hours longer!!!!!!!??????

6k, 8 hours, 12k 12hours, plus valves. anything less isn't servicing.

I would only recommend Joolz for cerbera servicing - he wont miss a thing - but what I do recommend - is make sure you ask to get your starter motor removed and checked and bolted back on. Bolts start coming loose and/or wiring can go loose too... Joo you should give that as an option to people coming in for servicing, I think the extra 30 mins labour costs would be well worth the security...

agree about Joolz, but Mr Phoenix, since you're re-defining what can possibly fit into the nose of a Cerb, is the current starter motor really the best option? Isn't there some top banana part that would fit, and not need re-building every other outing? The World needs to know..

and get oil pressure relief spring changed every couple of yrs.
and ensure you havea few grand in the bank for suprises (suspension, tyres, wheels cracking, starts going, clutch and bell housing, rebuild, exhaust, air con, brakes warping etc. etc)

Custom starter motor being put in - because its a 6 speed box going in - there wont be space for the existing setup to work - and so being relocated too (thank god!)....
And no more big fuses - will have full tripable panel in the cockpit, so I can just flick it back on if it was nothing but a quick surge... fuses are history in my car.... (wasnt cheap though uffff).... but I do not want to break down at tescos or petrol stations or outside moms again! ever again! EVER EVER EVER again! and I will never have the throttle cable or the throttle pedal snapping on me on the motorway whilst blasting in the 3rd lane! No more stupid throttle pot worries - I had enough of those moments, and I'd be glad to see the last of them... From this point on, if I get any failures it will either be engine or gearbox only - and I'll avoid that by getting full rebuilds every 6000 miles (with the kinda power I'm pushing through - its the safest option).... also full engine/box/diff oil change every 1000 miles... of course every 100 miles for the first 1000miles for running the new box/diff/engine in...
