Having spent many an afternoon on the motorbike around the Cairngorms you'd be hard pressed to find any better roads and scenery other than the west coast of Scotland. Tempted between this and Bealach Mor/Skye.....Hmm

47p2 - and what will you do after lunch!? (I'm in awe of some of the routes you've done on a SS, as I'm a fen-dweller, so the biggest hills we have around here are speed humps!)

Having lived in the Moray Firth area for 3 years (when I was, annoyingly, not into cycling at the time) I remember some of the roads on that route, can't imagine how tough they would feel after 100 miles of cycling! Would love to do it, but would need some serious training between now and then!

I'm planning doing Bealach next year with my mate on our own, not joining a sportive if you're up for it we could organise something. Another couple of great routes worth contemplating are Lochinver/Assynt and Mull which are on my to-do list

After lunch I will probably die rofl
I'm very lucky here in the fact that I don't have to go far to get some good climbs in, also that I enjoy the challenge of the climbs. This is the first time in over 45 years I've ridden single speed and I love it, there's something about single speed simplicity and the effort required to get up the climbs that appeals to my sick brain. No doubt I'll come across a climb I need to get off and push the bike up but so far I've never had to do that...yet. I did think that today's route would be the day for pushing but I managed to hold on in there and keep pedalling.

I'm also lucky enough that with my work I occasionally have to work away from home and can often take a bike with me, this year I've cycled around the St Andrews area, the Borders area and Dornoch which was fantastic. Looking forward to Bealach and 3 Pistes event next year as they will give me something to focus on throughout the dark winter months
