Anyone selling a Racelogic VBOX ? Especially as track season is almost finished now ?? smile

Also, anyone know what are alternatives to the VBOX?

Thanks.

What features are you looking for? I have a performancebox which has been great and substantially cheaper.

VBox is great if you're in a hurry - the video compositing is done in the box so you don't have to spend time after the event doing it yourself. The limit is the video is only 480pixels, so not brilliant quality compared to what you can achieve with a recent GoPro; they have an HD version coming but its going to be very expensive. If you want a VBox make sure you get the OLED display with it as you save at least £150.

On my last outing I used a Performance Box. Its very good but am looking for more detailed telemetry data and video .... hence the VBOX which can hook into the CAN bus of my 996 GT3.

Yes Spyderman. the OLED is something I will definitely want! Thanks.

Suggest you check with RaceLogic first to make sure you can actually get the data you want from the CANBUS. I say that because with a 986 you can hardly get anything.

996 GT3 has a funky CAN implementation - won't talk to a VBOX in any useful way:

With a micro input module on a performance box you could add the rpm, but thats about all you could get.

On a 996 GT3 (mk2) using a Vbox (and the separate CAN cable) you can definetely tap into engine revs and accelerator angle. I believe you can also get the wheel speeds at the 4 wheels.

As mentioned, the later 997 cars give a longer list of items.

And of course the new HD Vbox is out but still plenty more software to be released and don't believe the CAN is released yet

I have one

Hi, Mike from Racelogic here.

The 996 is indeed pretty sparse when it comes to CAN IDs - especially in comparison to the 997 which has a much more complicated Bus. If there isn't much on a network I'm afraid there's nothing we can do about it.

If you want to log more signals than exist on the Bus then there is no option other than to use an input module, of which we have two. If you need any more info drop us an email.

I've got to put a DL1 in the car for next season (requirement of Britcar) and to fund it I might sell the VBox Lite I have now. Will post on here if I come to sell it.

Edit: turns out the Britcar-spec DL1 doesn't do video (got confused with the Video4), so I will still need the VBox.

I'm eventually about to sell my Video VBox lite (and micro input module) after a busy Christmas. If anyone's still after one then drop me a line before I go off to the awful auction website in the next week or two.

It's this one:
http://www.racelogic.co.uk/Store/products.php?prod...

and this additional module which allows you to log RPM and up to 4 analogue inputs like oil/water temp/pressure etc:

http://www.racelogic.co.uk/Store/products.php?prod...

The 2 things to note are that I have lost the rear view camera (You can use it with just 1 camera fine. A new Camera is £100 from Racelogic)

Secondly - On the first link it mentions 4 can channels. I'm not sure of mine has that or not as I don't use them, i don't think mine does.

It's all boxed and I can email you some photos over if you want.
