Sorry, don't know the vehicle itself.

IMO Any original late model 500 that you can legally drive down the road, and make sensible journeys in without breaking down, is worth that all day long at that mileage and apparent condition.

Ignoring some rather 'interesting' decorating decisions, it looks quite good in principal doesn't it?
Of course, that's still a pile of money for most of us, and you want to inspect and confirm as closely as possible.
The usual issues to be considered - cam change needed? etc blah blah ad nauseam.

I doubt many dealers would be selling it for less than £14k+

The red and yellow may be less of an issue in reality.
If you are outside, it looks yellow
If you are inside, it looks red.

Lots of us have black or navy cars with beige interiors.......me included. Hate a dark interior to a car.

The full body off restoration is a considerable plus for me

The guy who owns it is definately a member on here.

I would say #12k is an absolute steal and can't believe anyone would think this is overpriced!
A big dealer would have this on for #15k plus.

It's a 500, it's reasonable mileage, good history from a known enthusiast AND it's had a full body off resto which will set you back atleast #3k plus!

Assuming all checks out I would have bitten his hand off earlier this year. bigmouth

I quite like the red and yellow - especially with the red dials
less bothered whether 500 or other engine - most of them will have more power then they can reasonably birng down - and I have been there (after Cerb and T 350) so now look for a depreciation proof summertime classic
I agreed with the body off a massive plus (if I knew who had done it - the owner hasn't link it to his ph profile so not sure why he would'nt and hasn't as yet answered my email)
less sure about the gaz golds but at least new - set up would be interesting
ACT good
don't know about tarox breaks
would hope the engine work is in line with the body work
design wise for me it just needs quadconversion afterburners and psoobly LUPO lights- happy to take the slugging off but that s how I would like it
Just strange that the guy did't answer me - unless he has a firm buyer - but I wrote last week....
Thanks for the rspeonses keep them coming

That's mine! Sorry if I haven't replied to you. I responded to the only message I've had and even spent time chatting on the phone with the chap. Perhaps your messaged got filtered into my junk box?

That being said, following the chat I had with the other prospective buyer I took it upon myself to inspect the chassis and have a good look over the car - the result being that the body is now 2 inches above the chassis as I touch up the outriggers.

It's a cracking car, albeit one that's been driven and enjoyed rather than a garage queen, but I couldn't sell it with rusty outriggers.....

Edit: And yes, the colour combination sounds horrific (and might look it to some people) but it works rather well. And it's a TVR so it's supposed to be loud and a little bit stupid! smile

Glad you clicked yourself in this thread Simon - thanks thumbup
here a summary of what I emailed you earlier last week...
lovely car and until this spring I could have discussed a direct swap with my T350 check profile (cramorra on ph) to see I am genuine
Very interested in yours as I like the colour combo - ideally would have liked to buy a bit later as I need tax bill in January clearing but your car on paper ticks a lot of my boxes...
Full body off restauration is a major point for me (although wondering how if this was done 2010 the outriggers could be gone again scratchchin) - who did the work for you?
Would have assumed that you had any engine niggles sorted then as well - did it have cams changed? Do you have a recent compression diagramm
drivitrain wise I have never heard of the brake type you fitted (but then I never had a RV8 car - perhaps you could send me a link?) - also I would be very keen to hear from your experience with the GAZ setup - some on here love them when set up correctly but there are also those who say the are no match for the standard Bilsteins and only ever Olin or KW make an upgrade - did you track her?
Perhpas worth staying in contact - I appreciate you will say "yes" to the first buyer, but its winter and she may not at all sell immediately? - my sister in law is in Dronfield so not unfamiliar to your area....
If you want to have a chat you can either pm me your number or send me a pm to chat via email
Kind regards
Oliver
Sorry for all the typos but the text prediction of this phone is worse than my notoriously bad spelling...edited to get yor name right at least...whistle

Perhaps worth adding that whilst I have asked further up what people felt about the price that I am not keen to haggle the last £££ out of you as long as the car is genuine but as you read I want some work done and need to factor this in, too - my main aim is to have a depreciation free (sort of) summer toy and I think classiv TVRs might bottom out soon...

Hi Oliver, feel free to email me again. I'm in no rush to sell so the timeframe you quote could work for me. With regards to the outriggers, it's something I'm currently addressing. As such the car is off the market for now as I can't sell her in that state.

I have never sold a car in a state I wouldn't be happy buying it in and I intend to keep to that outlook as even though it's 'buyer beware' I do believe that what goes around comes around! Especially when the car is known on a forum - it's quite a unique combination as people have pointed out.

So, stay in touch and once the car is back in tip top condition I'll look to either put her back up for sale or decide to keep it for a few more summers. As people have also pointed out, it's been up for sale before but then I get out and drive it and realise what great cars Chimaeras are. The longer I leave it the more I'll get to the point where I can afford to keep this and also buy a T350 to go with it! smile

Seems so especially as they supplied and know it- and have a good reputation and I personally get on well with the guys there - bought my CERB from them -= however if it needs full repsray you can add 3 k on it....

This is a lesson to all Chimaera owners - over 60,000 miles kills the second hand value.
Or put it another way, go for a higher miler and pocket the substantial change.
I do 15,000 miles a year in mine, so would buy this car like a shot if I wanted one.
There is nothing wrong with a higher mileage car, it's just prejudice in the TVR community IMHO.
Go look at the paintwork before thinking it needs a respray - do you want a show car or a fun car?
A front end respray (everything in front of the screen) will set you back less than a grand, and that's the most common requirement

That's just what mine needs, its pretty much mint apart from the front.

It doesn't really bother me that much. It shows its being used and is probably something I will do if I ever sell it.
