Calling V12V owners....
Discussion
I'm on the cusp of trading up from my 07 V8V to a V12V 2011 model. I've done a fair amount of research so I know what I'm letting myself if for emotionally (
) and financially, but before I take the plunge I'd really welcome any advice from V12V owners on what to look out for, you know, niggles and faults.
My car is not a daily driver but does get used most weekends regardless of weather, so a particular concern I have is about the performance of the Corsa tyres in the cold and wet.
Cheers in advance, Paul

You hear very few people having issues with the V12V, other than perhaps cosmetic ones. The biggest consumable expense would be new CCMs, so worth checking if the car has been used for track days and how many pad changes it has had. Hopefully on a 2011 that hasn't been driven hard on tracks it will have had one pad change and the CCMs will have many thousands of miles of life left.
As for the Corsas, as I have said elsewhere, I've driven on them in 4 degree temps and with it raining. As long as you don't try and drive like you would in 20 degree temps then you would be fine. The car itself stops you from being very silly, amazingly so in the wet, but it can only go so far so you have to respect the power and torque in the car.
I wouldn't drive in snow or icy conditions on Corsas, but once you get heat into them they are fine in rain and cooler conditions. As a ex-racing driver who now blags for a living told me, smoothness is important in the cold and wet and getting heat into the Corsas is important.

Cheers everybody, reassuring news. Shall take note of your advice. I have a few discussion points to cover with the dealer, so will add your suggestions to the mix.
Gotta say, after a blast in the V8V today on dry roads, any Aston is a great Aston, so if the deal doesn't come off, I still know there is plenty of fun to bring a smile to my face with a V8.
Will let you know how I get on over the next couple of weeks on the decison making front. Might be an amazing Christmas pressie if all goes well

Hi Paul,
not sure if this is against forum etiquette, but I'm looking for a V8V, preferably MY07. Assuming you are trading at a dealer, you should get a much better deal going in with cash, rather than a car they have to sell or dispose through the trade.
Anyhoo - feel free to message or email me to discuss - simonpa at gmail.com
Cheers!

Not the faintest idea what you're talking about. Dealers make money from finance deals so not so sure cash is king in this example.not sure if this is against forum etiquette, but I'm looking for a V8V, preferably MY07. For what reason should we feel compelled to message you?
My car just loves developing rattles. My Ipod/Iphone connector has been a bit ropey too.
My car has Michi Pilot Sport2s on it which Aston were happy to fit. 99% of the performance of the corsa but with a lot more all weather usability.
Its been pretty much faultless after my 15000miles.

I wish I could say that about mine.
Whoami whats gone wrong then?
Culminating in a new gearbox being fitted (hopefully today).
Oh, and the dealer also damaged the car during one of its many trips back to be fixed.

No! Really bad, not heard bad things about the v12v before. Hopefully will be resolved.Culminating in a new gearbox being fitted (hopefully today).

I think my father's one, being one of the later cars, must have had a number of the common issues resolved but despite that there have still been one or two niggles.
1) Usual tail light lenses fogging. We've had the hole drilled as per AM instructions but still an issue. New tail light will be fitted at next service.
2) Tracker is repeatedly failing. Was broken prior to delivery so replaced. Replaced again earlier this year and still sends the occasional "moving without keys" alert despite one of us being at the wheel on a hoon!
3) Gearbox whine in 5th & 6th which will need resolving. Not sure if it's a new box or a rebuild. Not an issue at present but will be sorted at next service
4) Missing paint protection pad for boot rest on offside. Easy fix, they found one and sent it up.
5) Door seals were coming away from the body on collection when new. They were re-taped with other tape and appear ok now.
6) One interior trim squeak coming from the inner rear boot area. Eventually pinned down to the boot cover. Minor adjustment there and all is well.
To be fair, that isn't too bad a list for a car like this. I've had other new cars with a similar number of issues and some that are considerably worse. My Disco 3 developed a fuel leak after a couple of hundred miles which turned out to be a poorly seated injector! The stench of diesel was awful but we didn't notice on the dual carriageway so had likely done 100 miles on it before noticing. Thankfully a diesel not petrol!
Ultimately none of these issues hamper our enjoyment of the car. It really is the best car i've driven. You do feel so involved in it. The Vanq feels rather barge-like in comparison.

Thoroughly enjoyed my test drive yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by just how fluid it was in terms of steering, ride and gearchange. Performance was as momentous as I had thought it would be.
The only cloud - albeit a fairly big one - was that there was a some clutch judder and a burning smell when the salesman drove it off the forecourt (forwards) and when manoeuvring in the hotel car park for the change over. I only noticed a small amount of judder when I drove it. My V8V manual has had no such problems so I know it is not me riding a clutch.
The dealer has said they will sort it, (and I believe them as lots of PHers have praised this dealer), but so I can have a meaningful conversation with them, has anyone else had a similar issue on their V12V?
Cheers, Paul
