After having my fabia vrs for a year and half now, I thought I'd give the heavy smoker some PH love. Bought her for just under £4k in summer 2012 as my mk2 focus lx was one of the most boring cars I've ever been in. It was slow, heavy on fuel and looked boring. I was 19 and needed some kind of 'hot' hatch in my life. I originally wanted a seat Ibiza with the same 130hp 1.9tdi pd engine, but came across this and loved it's, pardon the cliche, wolf in sheeps clothing personality!
Of course it's had its niggles being on now 110k miles, after just 2 weeks of ownership, the clutch started to slip
so that's been changed, along with the cambelt and some suspension and steering parts. Despite this, I will never tire of its mid range pull. In second and third gear it would most normal cars to shame (have seen wheel spin in fourth in the wet!). I've fitted a better intake system so it should be producing around 145hp at the moment and plan to remap it up to around 170hp next year. I can also still get 60 to the gallon on a motorway blast

Having had MK1 and MK2 Fabia's the MK1 is actually quite a looker. I find it doesn't look dated even now and has a very refined and sensible Audi/VW look to it. I'd have another one if I wasn't a Honda convert.Edited by willmagrath on Sunday 1st December 14:34
My very first car was a Fabia in a very rare colour (Hot Chilli Metallic) with the old Skoda pushrod engine. I used to love wringing the neck off it and hearing it wheeze for mercy. Maybe rose tinted glasses as it was my very first car and the freedom that goes with it, but I do love a Furby, especially the vRS

Haha the poor car. Yeah It does look pretty good from some angles.
