Just had an email from SEMSEC stating that they will not be running a race series in 2014. This will have an impact on sprinters as well as all of the Lydden and Brands Hatch sprints were jointly run.
Sad to report as it was a great race series both for old hands and newcomers for racing and there entry policy allowed for all sorts of cars that may not have fitted in elsewhere.
Not sure where this leaves Lydden hill either as all the car racing there were SEMSEC events aside from one BARC south east event.

SEMSEC say they are going to continue as a car club. But with no events, what will they be doing? I understand they can't haemorrhage money, but surely this reduces 2014's income to zero?

They at still doing sprints and other stuff but sadly no race meetings a shame because great value for South East racers hope they make it back to running events in 2015.

But surely they hire Lydden and Brands for the whole day and run the sprint in the morning and the race in the afternoon? Is it economical to hire Lydden or Brands for half a day and just run a sprint?

The ACSMC sprint championship organizer sent out an e-mail saying "the organisers of events at Lydden and Brands Hatch have notified me that it is not financially viable to run sprints at those locations next year" -- so it looks like they're definitely off.

I suppose a whole day sprint with a larger entry may be feasible? (national event maybe?) They manage it at Goodwood after all.

Reckon a 80 car entry at £130 entry may just cover it.

That would make sense I hadnt seen that email, circuit hire fees would not make it possible.

Real shame to hear this as I did 3 years sprinting with tunbridge wells motor club which is liked to SEMSEC.

Hopefully they'll manage to negotiate with lydden and brands to keep some sprints at the circuits, I seam to remember that brands was very expensive to hire, something like £25k a day

I understand if you are buying track time from Brands Hatch it is in the region of £ 100 per minute.

I used the Youtube URL that got me to a point in time after all that stuff, but it didn't seem to work.

I don't know if the button is becoming slack or something, but what happens is when it's wedged under the headrest it seems that something (presumably the headrest) pushes down on the zoom button and causes it to zoom all the way in.

I'm thinking a bit of nature's carbon fibre (wood) bolted into the rear headrest mounts with the camera on top may be the solution.
