900 miles a year
Discussion
Is what my mum has done in her yaris in a year. I reckon she's lost more petrol to evaporation than combustion. It's driven nearly every day but probably never more than 2 miles.
Had to replace one of her rear tyres last year as the sidewall was starting to crack, I reckon it was one of the original tyres from the factory.
Give it up and use taxis? She laughed when I suggested it.

I bought a 1991 Micra for my mother-in-law a few years back. I got it from a friend whose dad bought it new and only really used it at weekends.
Looking back through the MOT certificates showed that by 9 years old it had done just over 8,000 miles and one year it did about 280 miles between tests! Needless to say he replaced it with another brand new car...

I confess to having a 2003 F360 Spider which has just turned 10k miles, so about 1000 miles per year. No real excuse, no conscious attempt to keep the mileage down or anything. Bit embarrassing really but .... cringe!!
To be fair if I had a 355 the 360 wouldn't be getting much use either!
It always makes me laugh when car owners are surprised by tiny mileages; in the bike world it is more the rule than the exception - dealers even consider any bike that has done more than 3000 miles a year as high mileage!
Bear in mind that bikes are much more of a toy than cars are and owners often have more than one and it's easy to see how it happens though.
As an example, at the start of this year I owned four different bikes (actually maybe another couple more that I had bought cheap to sell on in springtime).
Over the course of three months they all needed mot'd; one had done just over 900 miles since its last mot, another just under 400 and one less than 200.
Why have them then?
Because I can...

My 309 averaged 1000 miles p.a. in its first 21 years (with its first owner), and the service history shows that in its earlier years with that owner it did (for example) 300 miles one year then 700 the next then back to 400 miles the year after and so on... It then did 7,000 documented miles p.a. for two years with its second owner.
In its first 7 weeks with me it did 3,000 miles
- talk about being sold into slavery! It had a quiet life after that initial excitement (back in 2009) but has been doing 1,000 mostly urban miles a month for much of this year
