The only thing better than a purring pussy is a dog., if you live alone.

Cats are very independent so if you are looking for a friend and companion a dog is the way to go. That's not to say cats are not , but you will adapt to them, whereas a dog will adapt to you.

Dogs need walking, cats don't, and get used to mice, shrews and birds strategically placed for your benefit around the house.

Who cares what anybody else thinks.

PS, are you really Dilbert?

Stigma?
Assuming you won't be bumming it I'm not sure why there'd be any stigma. confused

I've had cats most of my life, single or otherwise. Not self conscious enough to have picked up on, or cared about anyone else's thoughts are re: my pets.

I have 3 Maine Coons and they are great company. Sociable and good with children.
Beautiful animals.

You like cats? Get a cat, give it a good home.

That is all that matters.

I didn't used to be too fond of cats.

Now got three of them. Wife's fault.

Low maintenance compared to dogs.

They are great. Very different personalities. One of them insists on lying on me and staring into my eyes whenever it can.

I am not gay and do not live alone.

Just a thought: if you live alone with a cat, it is only ever a couple of days away from eating you.

Why wow? There is a big stigma about it all, not from me because i would like one.

I dont have the time for a dog commitment.

I can only see it having a positive effect on getting women into the property. If it puts men off...well their loss I guess.

no stigma here. i travel fairly often for work and am never short of offers for catsitters. everyone loves betty as she's such an odd and un cat-like cat, questions are mainly how she is etc. whether she's learned any new words [she doesn't meow and her squeaks and chatter can sometimes sound like proper words] and whether i've mastered lead training!

There is a big stigma and your sexual preference also matters. That's why I say 'wow'. Who are these 'other people' that think this?
