Quote from FB:
The TVR Chatsworth Gathering is go for 2014 and the date should be released earlier than normal, but don't expect it to be at the same time of year as normal as there have been complications.

Here's the announcement:

Burghley Horse Power - Burghley House

TVRCC season opener 13th April 2014 Burghley House.
We are pleased to announce the TVRCC annual season opener event for 2014 will be held at Burghley House near Stamford in Lincolnshire. This event replaces the usual opener held at Chatsworth House but unfortunately due to other commitments and despite engaging with Chatsworth early in 2013, they were unable to offer us any dates in April, May or early June.

Situated just 5 minutes from the A1 this is a perfect location centrally situated for easy access. Burghley house offers something for all the family to enjoy. From the Elizabethan house, the contemporary sculpture garden and the garden of surprises , Burghley has so much to offer. Home of the famous Burghley Horse Trials, we are pleased to say that the only horse power in evidence on 13th April will be TVR although we will be sharing the event with a fine food market hosted in the stables courtyard so no TVR driver will go hungry on the day! There will be the Club shop and also a variety of TVR related trade stands for you to pick up those car goodies.

There will be a run out or two on Saturday 12th for those of you that enjoy the country drive out. Additionally Burghley are offering us a special club rate for entrance into the house of 2 for 1 with your club ticket receipt. This event will cost just £5.00 per car payable on the gate where you will receive your 2 for 1 voucher.

This stately home plays host to a number of car clubs so let’s show them that TVRCC have a true British spirit and we can prove to be the one they want to invite back.

There was a huge amount of work to try and find a suitable date for Chatsworth later in the year, The problem was that most of the events at chatsworth are annual, and everyone wants the same dates year on year, so when our the usual date was unavailable, priority for all the other dates has gone to the events that normally book o those dates. everything left proved unsuitable.

So with an alternative found for the season opener, there was lots of discussion about chatsworth and in the end the decision was that the available date would be to busy and hence dilute attendance, and with chatsworth and Burly being similar events it might dilute both of them too. so you could end up with 2 poorly attended events instead of one successful.

The TVRCC will continue to work with Chatsworth for a 2015 Date, and will review everything after an offer of a 2015 date and how Burley goes. ALL future options are open to see how things go and what people want, go back to chatsworth, keep the Burley event, alternate events ( possibly more difficult to maintain dates then) have both events, or do something totally different.

imho, its the cars and the people that really make any event, with the location, important but only secondary.

:-( Thats a blow. At least makes my potential for non-TVR ownership that much easier to bear as there wont be 100's of TVRs at my neighbours house.

notwithstanding the availability or not of 2014 dates it does seem strange to lose a winning forumla.

If parking in a field in front of a stately home is a winning formula then we still have it in Burghley.

so the TVRs at Chatsworth was not also an annual event then?

Oh well another great location kicked into touch.
Stamford in Lincolnshire is not exactly UK central is it and can be a bugger to get to! I know because I used to have to go to Lincoln on many occasions and hated the trip as the bloody roads always seemed to be full of HGV's and tractors making progress conservative in the extreme lol!
Must have been the only grand venue that the guys could get after Chatsworth appear to have backed out!
Anyway I'm sure that the committee did it best.
For me B House is just too far and will take to long to get there and back for a run out on the Sunday.

You'd like to have thought so wouldn't you?

I'm sure however that revenues have something to do with it and as we didn't hire the area per-se and only paid them £5 per car it wasn't a great money spinner for them. (Despite the pasty sales) Especially when you consider that other organisations pay considerably more up front than they raised on the gate from us on the best years.(up to 3x I believe)

Further for some, shorter for others. Getting to Chatsworth was also a bit of a bugger biggrin

But hey, if Chatsworth don't want to play ball, then the business goes else where...

It also gives us a chance at someplace a little different which has its positive points as well as I've commented
on before.

82 mile apart so worst case senario another hour and a half? Not exactly the "end of the World" !

Exactly my point biggrin

Another hour and a half from Chatsworth down south - wow. Another hour and a half to drive your TVR!

I bet Chatsworth make more profit out of a few thousand pie chewing TVR enthusiasts than they do from the annual women's institute knitting competition or sheep sheering trials!

I am sure the TVR offering was one of the worst revenue opportunities for Chatsworth. Still its a shame to lose it. I wish you luck with the new one. Dont think I'll be going.
