£10k budget, 2 cars needed, big & small, advice needed!

Here is the scenario, £10k budget, need 2 cars!! 1 small run around for daily chores, 1 large family car for weekend use.
Of a week day we very rarely go out as a family and don’t need a big car day to day however of a weekend we go everywhere as a family, football, shopping, horse riding, camping, taking the dog out ect
Did I A) Spit the £10k straight down the middle, £5k each
Or
B) spend no more than £2k of the run around and lay out a little more on the larger family car??
Not sure if its OCD but my thinking keeps coming back to 2 cars from the same manufacture would be nicer for some reason, my examples below:
Alfa Mito + 159 Estate
Merc B Class + E Class Estate
